No more needing to place the battery in the boot. This lithium battery measures 170mmH 170mmW and 50mm thick and will easily start a 6cyl motor. The float voltage is around 13.3V (versus around 12.8 for lead acid) which turns the starter over a little quicker.

Here is a pic and I did a youtube demo.

does it have balance taps? what sort of charger are you going to use for it?

Lithium is def the way of the future but farking dangerous if not handled and charged correctly

google lipo fires and imagine the results in a car accident....

Its not a lipo battery. I looked into the safety aspect. This one is fine. The car alternator charges it fine. This is largely experimental but I dont see problems yet. Yes it has balance taps.

These batteries are not rated in CCA. It is a high discharge rate type lithium and if you watch the youtube video that shows me tuning the starter over for 10 seconds you will see that it spins the engine a little bit faster as this battery has a float voltage of 13.3V as opposed to around 12.8 for lead acid and around 12.4 for the Optima type.

Its a 4 cell.

The alternator charges the batteries fine. Its within specs of what the battery needs. Since its just a 4S style arrangement the balance bars seem to be OK. But if not there is another simple balance solution in the pipeline that does away with any complex BMS.
