Some great run out prices on the Territory around and just happenned to find a Turbo...

I wanted one in 2006 but had to settle for an N/A as the pricing back then was almost non negotiable, 4 years later, they are almost extinct and only marginally more than I paid for my N/A RWD.

Picking it up on Saturday. :spoton:

Haven't driven it yet but I can imagine it will flog my 2006 RWD Ghia hahaaaa.

I'll be trolling this forum for info, mods, tips and tricks.

Can't wait......

It just goes to show that it is all about marketing. The "I can see all my Facebook friends on one tank" add has got them queuing up to buy the diesel. It had me thinking about it too. But after doing the sums, after 10 years of ownership of the diesel, I would have been $2200 worse off than keeping my current 2006 model Terra Turbo. I thought hmmm I might go see all my Facebook friends in my Terra Turbo. I would also have lost 100 KW of power in the process. They would have been way better off putting the Liquid injection 195 KW LPG engine in the new Territory. Then they could have advertised "I can see all of my Facebook friends for $50" Instead of the current $109 it costs to fill the current diesel territory. Yes that is correct. Current diesel price is $1.46 x 75 L = $109.50. Ford amaze me with their marketing decisions.

Unfortunately LPG still isnt as generally accepted as a truly mainstream fuel, apart from the commercial and of course taxi applications. Its very sad as we have an abundant source in Australia, and with governments both State and Federal offering incentives to convert to this fuel, its a crying shame it hasnt had a higher take-up rate. I await a drive in Fords LGI engined Falcon and see how it stacks up with other gas injection systems I have tried. As an OEM fitment, it better be very very good.

You,re right, the diesel-powered SUV is, to a degree, a triumph of marketing, but also has its economy advantages. Just that diesel is overpriced to buggery, and in general, the diesel variants cant match the performance of the petrol powered versions. They do have their place however, so I guess its each to his own.
