Two very different tires.

I have just put on the KU 31's in that size. They are very quite for a low profile wide tire. And quite comfy. A really good street tire for the price and it would seem I paid a lot lol.

Coming from top shelf tires ie Goodyear asymetrics. They dont have near the grip. Not on lateral or acceleration. After about twenty minutes of very hard driving the Ku's fall down, they groan and feel a bit mushy. They kind of lose thier turn in bite. Could have been tire pressure though. I was running 42/38

They do grip as well as the F1's in the wet in all areas. Really quite good here.

I got ten thou out of the rears and might have had enother two thou left in the fronts with the goodyears. I am hoping for a little more out of the KU31's. The rears were completely bald...my bad.

The Ku36 semi's in most instances wont give you much more grip on the road. Not the tires fault but all the sh*t on the road. They wont last long at all and will cost you an arm and a leg to keep running them. And they will suck like hell in the wet.

There a circut tire that can legally go on the road. How many laps are you planning on doing ??? The extra width wont make that much diff if you are running std suspension and alighnment figures.

I've used KU36 on street and circuit.

They offer better grip than a street tyre when hot but they are definitely not in the same class as a proper R rated semi like Toyo R888's, re55's etc. Really just a street semi tyre with big tread blocks.

When warm 245's would offer good rear street grip for the price and I would definitely recommend them as rears in the dry.

I used them at Marulan but I didn't find them as good as Falken rt615 or 215's,and not even close to my r888's. Obviously they are a better track tyre than ku31's though and I would say would offer better dry grip than 275 ku31's but it really depends on your suspension set up. At Wakefield in the wet, the ku36's weren't good at all.

However, when warm they offer surprisingly high lateral mid corner grip. A tirerack test had their lateral g's even higher than bridgey re11's and advan neova's which is saying something, but in all other areas, they weren't as good. Their pressures will also skyrocket quickly with such a heavy car and it's important to check the hot temps at the track and drop them back to high 30's as they can approach 50psi if starting with a cold base of high 30's.

They offer excellent bang for buck but their water clearing properties are too crap and dangerous to use as fronts on the street in my opinion.

A good compromise would be 245 ku31's on the front, 275 ku36 on the back with 9.5" rear wheels.

The answer to your question 245 vs 275 depends on rim size too and application. If it's on an 8" rim, then definitely ku36 as a stretched 275 will have less rubber on the road anyway.

If surface water is present and any risk at all of aquaplaning, my vote goes to ku31 though. They are very different tyres.

That always makes the decision easier!

I got quoted 175 per tyre fitted and balanced for KU31's in 235/45/17's...and over 300 per tyre for 245/40/17s!!! Ouch.

Also have heard of eggs on KU36's - Mat here has a set on right now.

I've gone through a pair of KU31s, great value, grip is decent. Now with 4x new KU31s and a tune giving 50% more rwkw, my grip seems to have gone down for some reason??? :3gears:

Funny that. I also have the grip problem since my tune & if I put my foot down smoke comes from the rear of the car & black marks appear on the road. :3gears:

Currently looking at new rims & some 19r 295 Advan AD08 tyres for the rear which might help.
