I just got my ba 2 back after putting a hole through the block. got a second hand block for 300(u could of got new one for about 800), billet rods, standard pistons and rings, gaskets and sh*t for a bought 2 grand, cheaper than getting a short from ford and stronger.

which standard pistons did you get?

Where would I go to pick up a new block for $800?? Also, is there any differnece in blocks from BA through to FG?

any decent ford wrecker, you can get whole standad n/a motors for $800. just pull all the parts you don't need off and put your parts in. but like most members say go fg short, if your only chasing 310/330 rwks its perfect.

If your end goal is 310 - 320 rwkw, I reckon you're throwing your money away buying a bottom end now.

A BA bottom end will handle 320rwkw on 98ron fuel - in a reputable tuners hands. Its held together for 130,000kms, which isnt allot for these motors, Ive been in a few taxi's using the same base motor, tortured day in day out in stop start traffic for over 1,000,000kms.

My BA has been running 312rwkw for a couple of years, all day every day. You just need valve springs, supporting mods like good intercooler & piping, good flowing Exhaust / with HI flow cat and a good Fuel pump.

Theres lots of BA's running more power than me on a std bottom end.

If it does go bang, then buy a bottom end or build yours better then.

I got mine from ozwreck in dandy for $600 (n/a long motor), but im selling it now! as my turbo motor is still alive...as im going to rebuild that.

if anyone wants a n/a long motor let me know, im chasing $500 pickup from dandy :)

No one has mentioned the oil pump, they are a week point that cause massive failure. worth doing in my book (seeing as I have broke 2) atomic are the go for that and chuck some rods, bottom end bearings and valve springs in too, then ud be fine to give it a hiding

Not too hard by urself if u have half an idea
