Guest XR09 Guests Posted 12/09/10 10:31 PM Share Posted 12/09/10 10:31 PM (edited) I get to drive both on a regular basis. The GM is a HSV Senator. So I guess not a completely fair comparison. Almost twice the price. Both are good large sedans for the cost. There both auto. For mine the ZF in the Ford is better. The GM does shift down by itself and gives the blip. But you can do that in the Ford as well, but YOU have to do it. For me that's a better thing and well more rewarding. I like to drive and be in control. The GM suffers bad tramp from the rear on heavy braking and a fair bit on hard acceleration. The Ford tracks and brakes so true. Well above its weight/price. There is no comparison when it comes to feel from the wheel. The Ford wins hands down. But I am running quite Modded suspension and brakes. In saying that I think the GM handles better std. Not now though. lolThe stereo in the GM is better. The interior of the Ford is much better. Seats are more comfy in the std Falcon than the HSV on long trips. Both are running aftermarket mags and tires and the Fords 19" are cheaper to replace than the GM's 20's. The Gm needs 20's where the Ford looks fine with the 19's.I think the paintwork is better on the GM. but overall finish is line ball. The GM runs out of puff @4500. It Will rev harder but does not pull any harder revving it more. The Ford pulls all the way to the rev limiter. 5700 I think.Coming from rex's you will know what a turbo feels like. Pure two stroke. It gets on the boil and just goes hard. Almost electric. Nothing like it. Being a family man the split folding rear seat of the Ford comes into its own hauling the Kids shoite around. Also has rear camera.I have not had what I would call good service from Ford. I never had any trouble from my GM dealer. Could not be nicer. The total opposite from My ford dealer.Gm is releasing a new update and running prices to the ground to clear old stock. Resale will not be good. The New V8 is coming out in the Ford and already dealers are clearing F6's cheaper. Woo hoo.. And I think the price is going to keep falling. Aussies love their V8's. between you and I and most in the know here they can have it. the 6 is cheap and has flogged the V8 since they fitted the snail. And will continue too for some time yet. Not to mention mod costs and rebuilds. Cheap cheap cheap. It is the bang for your bucks car of the last 25 years. If you cant talk the finance minister around .... one thing will. Get her to drive the Bogan special in traffic. You just cant see out of them. Huge A B & C pillars. A boot as high as the rear roof and a wing that takes what little view you might have had away. Serious that A pillar is a joke. The Ford is much nicer and has the rear cam.... good argument point for a family car. Rettroing the curtain air bags is not a dear option on the Ford either.I am not label bias at all and will drive what I think is the best value driving car going. To put that in an acronym XR6T Edited 12/09/10 10:35 PM by XR09

Ford has been nothing but perfect, modded with 2,000 on the clock and now has 18,000. Drives like a dream, auto is beautiful and the power fantastic. In standard form the VE was extremely boring to drive. Handles rather well but the power delivery being very linear gave a very dull driving experience. I had some pipes put on which make things a little more exciting. The car was also in for repair 4 times in the 10 months I had it.Strange thing is though as im a little older now (lol) if I had to do it again and buy a car for my fam I would probably go the VE based soley on the aesthetical appeal. The Ford in stock trim is soooooo much more fun but whether or not you need that is debateble. If you could have both you would.. SS sounded better but hey, gotta love the V8 growl ! so all in all ! we are going ! 2010 50th anniversary manual xr6 turbo in lightning strike silver !put paperwork into the remserv people today ! and we'll have the car by the end of the month if all goes to plan !
