Just had a mobile tyre roller over trying to roll the rear guards on my G6ET as my 275 rear rib slightly.

Said they are rolled from the factory so there nothing left to roll???

Is this correct? Anyone else attempted to roll rearguards on FG?

What width wheels are you putting the 275's on?

9.5"?

If so an offset around 38 to 40 will shift the wheel inwards slightly so the 275's won't rub.

F*ck! I thought it was the otherway round, the rims I want are 20x10 with 32 offset so they got no hope of fitting right?

yes 9.5 width, but offset 35, couldn't get 38 or 40 in the rims I wanted

I dont know of anyone in Melbourne that might be able to help you but I had the the same problem with my rims, wanted +42 offset but they only had 35 at the time and had to wait 5 weeks for 40 only so the blokes at the shop machined off

the 7mm from the inner center, apparently its a common practice and was told that its what would of happened to the 40 offset to get them to 42.

mate I would be getting someone to have a look at the rims you have on the car because I have just had some very nice 285 / 30 20 inch Falken tyres fitted to the rear of my FG G6ET (20 x 10 rim and I "think" a 35 offset but I cant remember sorry) and they don't rub at all, to be honest I will be trying the 295 /30 / 20's after I waste these in about the next 13000 K's or so (That's what the last set of rears lasted me LOL!)

Oh yeh I nearly forgot....

The front guards on Fg G6ET's are already lipped smooth from the factory but the rears are not. The rears, however only have a TINY lip of like 4 - 5mm which probably would take either a very talented guard roller with some means of heating the guard to help the rolling process or a panel beater to do teh rolling because they will be hard to roll IMHO (thick steel doesn't like being bent over a tight radius)

you know the difference between +35 and +38 is 3mm right? +38 9.5 is a well trodden path.

Get some more neg camber on the rear and you'll clear mate :)

yeah but I'd factor in less than 3mm if it meant getting 295's under- 3mm can make all the difference if you have 0mm clearance! :turboboink:

I guess you could carefully dremel and then file the lip back to 1 or 2mm? :dontknow:

I have some 9.5" +40 on the way :yes-sir:
