on dubs Member 132 Member For: 16y 5m 7d Gender: Male Location: Gawler, SA Posted 07/09/10 10:33 PM Share Posted 07/09/10 10:33 PM (edited) I've had some trouble with my BF suddenly having a missfire while driving, it has become more and more regular over time.I have replaced the spark plugs and the ignition coils, the problem is still there although it went away for a few days after.Is there a rev limiter in place that cuts spark?If I accelerate full throttle I get a very harsh surge-like effect that instantly cuts power and the car starts missfiring after that at low rpm.A couple of revs usaully sorts it.ECU is now showing a DTC. P0353 Ignition coil cylinder 3 Circuit failure (COP-B (or 3))Damaged or defective wiring or connectors. Defective power supply Defective switching signal from PCM.As I've just put in brand new WeaponX coil packs I'm not thinking I have a fault there. The problem existed before putting them in.No obvious signs of faults with the clips or wiring under the coil cover either.Where can I find the PCM? The insulation had come off the wire and it ended up grounding against the metal. He ended up having to replace the PCM along with soldering and heat shrinking the wire. Hope the problem is not as severe in your case.The PCM is the silver rectangular box in the engine bay, right next to the ABS module.
