I've had some trouble with my BF suddenly having a missfire while driving, it has become more and more regular over time.

I have replaced the spark plugs and the ignition coils, the problem is still there although it went away for a few days after.

Is there a rev limiter in place that cuts spark?

If I accelerate full throttle I get a very harsh surge-like effect that instantly cuts power and the car starts missfiring after that at low rpm.

A couple of revs usaully sorts it.

ECU is now showing a DTC. P0353 Ignition coil cylinder 3 Circuit failure (COP-B (or 3))

Damaged or defective wiring or connectors. Defective power supply Defective switching signal from PCM.

As I've just put in brand new WeaponX coil packs I'm not thinking I have a fault there.

The problem existed before putting them in.

No obvious signs of faults with the clips or wiring under the coil cover either.

Where can I find the PCM?

Where can I find the PCM?

G'Day on dubs,

My mate had a similar problem and it turned out to be one of the wires going to the PCM. The insulation had come off the wire and it ended up grounding against the metal. He ended up having to replace the PCM along with soldering and heat shrinking the wire. Hope the problem is not as severe in your case.

The PCM is the silver rectangular box in the engine bay, right next to the ABS module. I have circled it in the picture below.

Cheers,

Phooned

:verysad: He's talking about that one that has the wire you cut so your car goes faster...

:crybaby:

Iv heard a rumour that this boosts fuel supply, remaps the ECU and cuts the 0 - 100 times by 1 second!!

haha good one kents

Bit confusing about the PCM as that silver box is always refered to as the ECU.

Thanks for the info phooned and hiddeous. very interesting, will unbolt and have a look at the wiring.
