Thanks pal, excuse my ignorance but these arnt semi slicks are they?

How many kms have you got out of them, and what's your driving style like?

Cheers

I drive very aggressively only at the track, where I use my Toyo R888's now.

Tend to drive very safely on the road though.

Have a video of my first time at a track a few years back though at Marulan here:

(Was using KU36 this time though)

To answer your question, the f1 asymm are not semi slicks, just top shelf street rubber. Treadwear rating is 240 (semi slicks treadwear rating is approx 100: lower is stickier and lower life)

The tread pattern on the F1 asymm are far superior to semis for clearing surface water too (I.e. aquaplane resistance)

Proper R rated semis have far bigger tread blocks and also tend to pick up a lot more stones when used on the street etc when hot which can be noisy on your guards.

what tyre pressures are recommended for the F1s? How many kms are people getting out of the F1s? Ive run Toyo T1Rs, Toyo Proxes 4s, Brid Potenzas and the Standard SPs. By far the tyre with the most amount of grip was the T1Rs but were too soft and didnt last the distance plus they were not too flash in the wet. The Potezas became very hard over time and became very skatey and absolutely deadly in the wet. SPs were average and the Toyo 4s Im running now seemed to be pretty good slightly harder than the T1Rs but are yet to be tested in the wet. I will be looking at getting some front tyres in the coming week for the misses car so may look at the F1s as the wet season is nearly here.

I am having a set of bridgestone Adrenalin's fitted as we speak, wasnt my first pick but there is nothing else available at the moment. Be interested to see how they go.

My preferance list was

TOYO T1R's but im told they are not making them anymore

Goodyear Eagle F1 - these sound like a good tyre and have recieved some favourable write-ups but there where none available on short notice

Adrenalins

Dunlop Maxx

Mitchelin PS2

Conti's and Pirellis are a bit over priced in my opinion.. havent heard anyone raving about these either

I'll keep you posted on how the bridgestones hold up, might strip them back a bit on the way home.....

The Adrenalin's have good dry grip. I've got them in 245x19 on the back of my ute.

Soon to be getting some 295 rear & 255 front Yokohama Advan AD08 from Wheels World in Osborne Park. They are meant to be pretty grippy so it'll be interesting to seehow they go.

Mate,

Those tires will be sh*t hot... I enquired about a set and was told wheels world has exclusive rights. They exe $$$?

Would love to see those in the flesh and a set of 295's on the rear of an FG, give me a shout when you have them fitted

245 x 19 is what I have, they seem pretty sticky. Dry grip is all ium worried about, I drive like a grandma in the wet. 300 RWKW + Ute + Rain = Danger

Yeah I agree with you about wet driving I always take it really easy or you can do 180/360 turns before you know it, especially if it's first rain & all the oily stuff comes up off the road.

Looking at all the reviews from people like tirerack in the US etc they are apparently one of the grippiest road legal tyres, up there with Brigestone RE11 & Toyo R888. They are over $600 each so not cheap but the guy @ wheels world reckons they are the best thing since sliced bread & he has fitted them to 800hp commodores with good feedback.

It could be 8 weeks or as soon as 2 weeks when I get them fitted as I need new wheels to be able to take them & the wait depends on the offset I choose. Getting 10'' wide rears (finally!:buttrock: ) but he's gotta do a bit of measuring to see if he can get the size to really fill out the guards.

I'll post some pics & feedback on the tyres when it's all done.

Please do post pics... are you getting your wheels from ozzy park as well? always keen on seeing what offsets work on the rear of the FG's are you running brembos? I have found a few wheels I like on the ute but finding wheels I like that clear big brakes and dont break the bank is tough..

Yep I've got 6p brembos on the front & I've had a battle trying to find something which clears them & also has the right offsets available so I can go with a staggered fitment & get wider rims on the back.

I've decided on the ADVAN RS wheels in dark gunmetal. They are the same colour as a dark argent in real life. In the picture they look pretty average but when I saw them at the shop I loved them.

ADVAN Wheels - ADVAN Racing RS

Getting 19x9f & 19x10r :dontknow:

They are nice & light too - 8.6kg front & 9.2kg rear but unfortunatly have a heavy price (about $1k each) At least they should be good quality.
