Guys, have many of you with BA xr6t autos, had failure of the transmission cooler side of the radiator, is it best to replace radiator with genuine ford radiator ?

I would like to keep original looking.

or fit transmissinion cooler on the existing radiator ?

Do they look any good fitted up, or does it look like a real add on?

What sort of fittment problems would I encounter if I went the aftermarket route ?

opinions on both fittings if you could guys

thankyou, regards

My opinion would be to disconnect the radiator transcooler section and plumb into an aftermarket cooler. This can either be mounted in the front of the car where air flow is or have it installed somewhere else with a fan to circulate air. There are many differing locations and installs that have been on here over the years. I'm sure someone will be along with some pics soon. I think I may have some also. Have to look.

I bought a trans cooler years ago when a few people started having problems of the cores splitting and leaking into the radiator or vice versa.

I just bypassed the standard in radiator line. Fitted it inside the driver side wheel arch without a fan and have had no problems with it. The oil comes out fine on services when I get it replaced so assume its kept at a low enough temp.

To fit mine I had the 2 hard steel lines from behind the radiator cut, flared the ends slightly and hoses with clamps attached running to the trans cooler.

There is photos on this forum somewhere as I just copied someone elses placement.
