I've been getting the car ready for Racewars again! Was spewing I missed it last year but the funds just weren't there after getting the new brakes and gearbox rebuilt.

Good to go this year though, had my scrutineering appointment this morning at Galvsport in Osborne Park and was the first car to pass with a clean slate! My pre-inspection inspection no doubt had something to do with that. I was pretty damn stoked to collect my competitor pack of decals for the weekend. I also bought a hat to stop myself from burning while I waited but I'm not that keen on flat brims unfortunately. oh well, when in Rome, do as the Romas do!

Got back home eventually and started the fiddly process of one man fitting the windscreen decal. Just used plain water to aid in peeling it up again during fine tuning of placement. Here it is before I took a scalpel to it and got rid of the excess.

I probably should have done the proper soapy water thing so you can slide it around and make bubbles easier to get out but I got there in the end!

Looks good, I preferred the black one from 2013 though:

I still have it in fact...couldn't bear to throw it out!

Well the scrutineering chicks were pretty good :) Best pic I can get you is the merch lady bending over on dashcam as they drove it in hahaha

Also dropped past Autoplus Midland on the way in (8am Saturday appointments FTW, I think) to have a courtesy check done on the car. Also had them torque up the wheel nuts to 135Nm as I forgot to do that when I got home on Friday (rattle gun at tyre shop as usual). We discussed the importance of correctly torquing wheel nuts and Chris pointed out it's especially pertinent when in high performance situations because of the extra heat being generated in the hub while braking.

Anyway I got a few pics of the new goodies under the car! Compare against the dead parts box image above.

The new lower ball joints which he again stressed were far to easy to press in at first so they had to use oversize ones, don't want them popping out if I'm flogging it and hit a big bump (like crossing railway lines in the outback....ouch):

The work to the tailshaft is awesome, driveline shunt is nonexistent now, the only harsh clunk I get is on some of the 3-4 shifts if I'm at certain throttle inputs but that is probably due to the extra built "stage 2" clutch packs box losing a few manners. New tailshaft coupling:

New tailshaft centre bearing AND universal joint which is the cross item I couldn't identify before (Chris pointed out it wasn't invoiced/charged for!):

Diff looking good!!

I had my first proper look at the transmission mount (crossmember?) that I bashed a mighty piece out of when driving up a client's dirt driveway on the way to York one day...electric gates with a lock in the middle. I now drive to one side on that call out...

Oh and the 4x Invos are obviously on the car now too

I thought for sure I'd have fluids leaking out. Checked right away and nothing, this explains why!

My last 1000m run. Moved the dashcam to passenger headrest :) Will maybe post the normal mounting spot video of the first run later.

View it on youtube so you can go full screen and see GPS speed in bottom left (bit delayed)

They are pretty awesome gloves. Not even kidding.

So as the above video suggests I entered the car in Motul Racewars 2015, held in Wyalkatchem WA, about 2 hours E/NE from Perth. 400m and 800m drag racing capped off by 1000m top speed solo runs. We actually witnessed an Australian record get set by Steve Jones driving the [ND4SPD] R32 GTR - 322km/h over 1000m.

My car performed magnificently the whole weekend, dishing and receiving chop with abandon.

I've been having work done in prep for the event and on the Friday morning I bought a new fuel filter and smashed it on the car as well as changing oil+filter about 1000km early, since I didn't want 6200km old oil in the beast for a weekend of motorsport.

Took the missus along and the excitement of being a passenger in my car along with camping and joking with friends actually repaired a recent (like the day before) crack in our relationship, proving we need to go do enjoy life more together and with friends instead of only hanging out with each other on weekends. Would be fair to say it was almost a make or break weekend...serious business.

Pics are linked from public Facebook posts so hopefully everyone can see them...

So I took last Friday off work (3 day week mofos!) and we drove up there and set up camp on the very green footy oval...need a bigger tent...

We met up with Brad (Frostyboy, owner of a blue 720hp BF F6) at the airport helped him set up his car bay cover, then went to watch a couple of the gymkhana runs which was fun, here's an in car from one of them in case you're wondering what a gymkhana is ("minikhana" in this case)

Once that was done we grabbed a bite to eat and headed off to the pub in town for a couple pints, talked sh!t and got to bed about 10pm IIRC...weather had been great overnight, just dew on the cars

Brad had come very well prepared, this was awesome

Anyway ON TO THE RACING right? Got through the sign up process, breatho etc and was good to go. Hopped in the line behind the other raucous race cars

Like this Toyota Echo Sportivo

wut

This actually raced against a Mitsubishi Colt Rallyart and they were both within 1km/h of each other at the other end of the strip. Echo has a 1.5L (up from 1.3) and a turbo hahaha. The Colt managed a 1000m pass at only 10km/h less than my car to give you some idea of how shocking these cars were! Never raced them myself though :)

First run was against a RWD R34 driven by a guy I know from Antilag forums. Used to have an S15 which I'd have spanked but the 34 had just copped a built engine and is putting out over 500hp so he dusted me :) Such is life but I was glad to finally get to race him.

These runs are 400m in length after a 100m roll on stage where you match speed against the opponent, this is easier on cars and also reduces the advantage of us auto gearbox drivers.

At some point Brad and I arranged a run against each other. Here you see the downside of a manual car with 700+ hp as I pull away at the start and he smokes the tyres...then the inevitable upside once he hits the higher gears!

Slapped an M3 (I think it was manual and stock)

On to the real reason I attended, the 800m drag races :)

First I had some in car experiences which was awesome

Same car as above getting away nicely on me in a later race against each other

Took a ride in a blue Monaro that killed me in 2013 (has NOS!) and saw this from the start line hahaha

Riding in a GTI-R with 260hp (AWD, weighs only 1.3T!)

Hopped back in my own car and managed to catch this GTO (not sure why they slowed down) which had beaten me in the 400m sessions (launched great, couldn't reel it in)

Some more runs from Saturday

Last one is against a VF GTS but it's still uploading...not sure if it was standard or not. I've read they are a low 12's car stock and we cross the 400m line where you see another runway crossing over this one, it's a few lengths in front at that stage. Got out of the hole much better than me but had power down issues as you will hear!
