I dunno, still wondering if I will rub it back and re-clear or leave it polished...will be my first time painting something which is a bit scary. Probably hard to make it look worse than peeling clear coat though, so that's some consolation. Brakes need it for sure, the big creamy patch will annoy me no end...that's what she said. Thanks Pedja. Was remembering his funeral the other day and my wondering at the time over whether I should bring my car in the procession or not (brand new loud exhaust only a week old). An old member Mat pointed out of course I should, dad was a car nut so really it was entirely appropriate to have it there in his honour. Mat attended one where there were loads of WRXs with booming exhausts etc as the person being farewelled was a fellow WRX enthusiast IIRC. Think the posts would be buried in WA chat somewhere. Anyway thanks for the kind words and yeah I don't think I'll ever be selling the thing for that reason, as much as I'd love a BF Typhoon it just wouldn't have the history. Maybe a SC 5.0 GT one day as the old man owned an XW GT he converted to an XY GT back in the day...but I would prefer an XB GT first to be honest, already have a fast modern car. Glad I wrote it out and have thus reminded myself. Mat is also there commenting on the WRXs as well.Hopefully some new pics to add to this thread on Monday...going to be awesome!

As alluded to above and in other threads I've been made an offer I couldn't refuse, by the godfather of bushes himself, Luke. Out with the old and in with the (comparatively) new!My baby doing her best Blue Steel to show off the new shoes! I haven't rated these rims as much before seeing them on my car in person but I have a feeling they will stay on there for a while as they are rapidly growing on me... 18" Typhoon stockies with center caps. WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY-hay-hay better than the BF 17's! And a bit lighter than the 19" FPV twisties plus the comfort, value and performance of 18's. I couldn't tell much difference in weight from the stock wheels and tyres to these. Possibly a bit lighter but really hard to say.Oh why hello there, what's that cheeky red thing you have hidden away? Show me more you naughty thing! Why it's a set of 4 pot 355mm Brembo brakes, free delivery from over East as well, sneakily they hitched a ride on a certain Deja Vu Phoon now occupying space in Wiggum's garage. And now a close up of the genuine rotors which are barely used to the brand new pads yet. You can make out the cleaner line 1/3 of the way out from centre. Once the pads wear in the surface rust will self clean of course. Won't take long at my rate of kms. Two days at most I'm betting for a shiny surface.I've also shopped out most of the peeling clear coat from the calipers (to right of the Brembo logo pic, see last image), I'm going to need to buy myself a can of clear coat and some wet and dry and give it a crack I think, once it gets warmer and drier. The rims need going over too to get rid of the little white lines, again peeling clear coat. Still massively stoked at my luck!On to performance. I can't comment properly on the difference in feel yet due to the pads not being mated, but even driving the 50 odd kms home the pedal felt lovely and smooth in operation. Looking forward to giving it a good working out once it's ready! The tyres on these rear rims are pretty slippery though, "Tri-Ace" "Carrera". Insult to Porsche, lol. The well used KU31's I had on the rears eat these for breakfast in the wet. Feels like I have +100rwkw hahaha. Smooth controllable loss of traction at least I'll give them that.We also have the rear calipers yet to go on, the rotors welded themselves on to the Phoon so no time to remove. When Ralph gets them off I'll take a pic of the difference as he said they actually do look bigger than the BFII XR rears so seems it's more than just red paint. Mind you I have the povo pack solid rear rotors that measure 303mm so maybe smaller calipers too. Before and after on the front brakes:Sa-weeeeeeet!Luke once again comes through with the goods so massive thanks to him selling and showing me how to fit these. Pad changes will be a piece of p!ss now that the calipers can remain on the bloody car! Plus look at that sensibly placed bleed nipple, oh baby. It's late but I wanna drive it again... Something I've never fixed on mine...but yeah it sure is fun! hahaha. More pics tomorrow once I can throw the Auto Glym tyre dressing on and get a distance pic happening Edited 16/09/13 04:31 PM by -SteveR-
