Hi All,

I've been driving around my mates FG F6 recently getting a few things done. Love it and it feels very different to my G6ET.

Anyway, I notice the instrument cluster doesnt light up with the headlights but instead seems to come on once it gets dark (possibly from a sensor through the windscreen).

Anyway, no probs but now I got the windows tinted for him and at dusk just before it gets dark through the front windscreen, I turn the lights on but the cluster doesnt light up soon enough and gets hard to read cause the light from the side windows isnt getting in.

Does anyone know a way to change this so it lights up earlier?

There is a setting in the ICC menu for the auto light on and off delay, but not sure if that has any bearing on the dash illumination.

As far as the dash lights they are controlled by the sunload sensor at the front of the dash, your G6ET should do the same. I.e. if you turn the headlights to 'on' during the day then the dash shouldn't illuminate. But on 'auto' the headlights and dashlights should operate in tandem when it gets dark enough.

Long shot...but if there's a dash mat fitted it'd upset everything. Your only option then is to adjust the dash illumination via the cluster (not ICC) menu - is separate settings for day and night.

Another option if there aren't any settings for it and you want the lights to come on a little earlier is to put some tint (or similar) over the sunload sensor, should do the trick.

Thanks, I will give those a try

bad news...the dimmer on the cluster is only for the heads-up display in the middle of the cluster :( the gauges cannot be dimmed/brightened! believe me, I've tried!

Try again dude... im sure there is a setting to adjust tacho and speedo brightness :w00t2:

Its kinda a pain in the bum, I wish they would come on a little earlier, or only come on when it felt like when lights were set to 'auto'

Ok, no luck with changing the delay on the ICC. I can vary the speedo and tacho brightness via the cluster menu but it doesnt make it come on any earlier.

Took the G6ET to work today and yes its exactly the same. Never noticed it before.

I think its going to annoy me now til I find a solution. :censored:

Is it possible maybe the dealer can change the settings with their magic programming equipment?

This drove me nuts when I got the car.

I just put tape over the sensor, but this affects the already pathetic air con.

I was looking at pulling out the dash and trying to find the wire from the sensor to the headlights but couldn't be stuffed, I'll make an effort to do this with the next one.

If anyone knows a better option I'd also be keen to hear it.

yeah its annoying the hell out of me, especially in overcast weather and can barley see the dash.

does it really affect the air con too? mine was getting cold and going air temp and cold again all yesterday and thought it was stuffed
