Im currently waiting on all my audio gear to arrive from overseas.

I asked for advice about a year ago, and still had the same system in mind.

I ended up getting:

Alpine cde-102e

Alpine MRP-F300

MRP-F300-S.jpg

Alpine SWS-1223D

Focal 570CA1 (I took Smickys advice with these and purchased from Northfield locally, thanks mate)

Now I have gotten quotes (including all cabling) from

JB HIFI $480

Northfield $450

And called 6 auto electricians and none of them will do it..

Does this sound like a fair price for the install? I though they were both a bit steep.

If anyone here can do it for less in Brisbane pm me, or if you know of another good place thatll do it, let me know, otherwise ill more than likely go with Northfield.

$$$ depends what u are expecting them to do..

if u want sub box etc - that's why the elec WONT do it... they dont 'normally' know how!

But as a 'general/basic' install - should about 25% to high to me... :censored:

Do you guys know much about Rockford Fosgate Subwoofers?

I'm looking at this one.... Rockford Fosgate 12 800 Watt Slim Subwoofer, Punch Series. [P3SD212 / P3SD412] - $399.00 : Car Audio Warehouse, Australia's best car audio deals,

What sort of amp should I look at getting to run it and do I need one to run the sub and another to run the speakers?

Looks great except you could get it from here delivered for about $230

Rockford Fosgate P3SD212 - 12" Car Subwoofer - Sonic Electronix

A 4 channel amp will run one set of speakers (fronts) and the sub

The other rear speakers will run off the head unit.

If you buy the right Amp (2 ohm stable) then it will run your 2 fronts, 2 rears and 1 4ohm sub. It will generally run a little warmer than normal as per the load you are putting on the amp but a good quality amp will have no problem running it all. The only problem by setting it up this way is that you have no fade from Front to back which comes down to buying very similar sensitivity in the speakers specs to get a great sound in the car.

So it's fairly standard to run the fronts off the amp instead of the rears?

I'm liking the look of those focal speakers... Should I replace all 4 speakers? Also, do you think it's worth changing over the tweeters?

I would think so mate, as you sit in the front so you want the fronts to sound better.

Those Focls that I bought are meant to be $249 in the Nothfield shop but they are incorrectly labelled at $229 on the website so they honoured that price.

Northfield Car Sound

They still havent changed it so id snap up a pair of these before it gets changed. They in definitely in your budget too.
