I am looking for alternatives to the standard Castrol fully synthetic SAE 80w-140 GL5 limited slip differential oil to use in my FGXR6T.

The car is used at Wakefield park and Eastern Creek circuits and is changed before each track day, but it has been heating/frothing up and leaking out (due to the forces applied to the diff using sticky semi slicks for 5 or 6 laps).

I've also tried the Nulon 80W-140 but am looking for a higher quality lsd diff oil this time.

Has anyone tried Mainlube or have any other recommendations?

Maybe you need to look at a diff cooler rather than a different oil. I dont really know thou just an idea.

Thanks, Diff cooler possibly in the works as well as an oil catch can from breather spiralling upwards in the boot, but want to try any other diff oils people recommend first before committing to any other mods.

im normally against the crap purely because of the ridiculous price, but maybe Royal Purple may be worth a shot?

Try track down some KAAZ diff oil, quality stuff.

Would Nulon 85w140 be ok for the diff in my BF without having to use additives? Just for everyday driving and the odd day at the drags. Seems fairly cheap.

I used the Nulon oil, 80w-140 full synthetic, was about $30 per 1L bottle (bought 2 as it takes 1.86L) - its what nulon have in their listing, plus says no additives required.

Castrol doesn't require the additives either from memory.

Have a look on the forum - an interesting gear oil article. Cut/paste below.

"There is an Amsoil dealer in Dandenong; their website here:

http://www.lubricationmanagement.com.au/catalog/

these links are from 2008 so id advise people that its still good info but out of date. "

Makes for informed reading.
