Sorry mate, edited your post instead of hitting reply.

FG XR6's have 5 speed autos I think, not as good as ZF obviously but that's all I know.

The 5 speed completely sucks.

Don't do it. It will hurt now and hurt even more at resale.

The 5 speed is a slow changer, quite weak and has a special clunk all of its own to go with the std Ford driveline one.

FYI, the 5 speed is a 5R55S ...

In america they have been behind supercharged mustangs handling alot more power than a ZF has ever seen.

If I had the choice of converting my 4speed auto to a 5speed 5r55s or a 6speed zf, I'd go the 5speed anyday of the week.

You serious Danny Boy???

Maybe *Beep* should have upgraded to the 5 speed instead of building his BTR so many times :buttrock:

Or, Alternatively, you can go a Jatco RE4RO3A, as found in a 300ZX TT or Nissan Patrol...

Catalogue

Click on jatco... They built the box in the skyline RH9GTR which runs 8's

as per their website..

After years of development BMS have manufactured the worlds first Jatco 4 Wheel Drive Transmission.

The Valvebody for this took 2 years to develop ensuring a perfect application.

This trans has a billett servo, modified band adjusters, carbonite front bands plus custom made output

shafts to adapt the RE4RO3A to the Stegea transfer case. We also have a modified clutch drum.

These grearbox's can be used in 6cyl Turbo Falcons, Mazda Rotarys, V8 Applications and

Nissans-virtually anything that has up to 1000 hp @ the tyres.

that's a big call, please continue as to why, if you would, cheers.

Quite simply, the 5 speed is tunable via PCM..

The ZF has its own TCM which NO ONE can modify..

Personally I'd rather a box that grabs the next gear hard knowing the frictions aint flaring and prematurely wearing out
