Hi, I am reading all of the posts in the site, and many people bag out the utes and say that they are not as good as the sedans. What is the difference between the two? (other than the 9 or so grand cheaper) Are the sedans that much of a better choice? What are your opinions...

There's nothing wrong with the ute. Yes it has the same engine and transmission but you have to realise that they're different animals, the ute is leaf spring in the rear it's not as smooth as the sedans control blade setup but it's designed for a different purpose and it does it bloody well, the ute is just that a ute. If you don't need a ute and have got the extra $$ buy the sedan and get your big color premium sound screen. The main difference I've noticed in the ute compared to the sedan (not including the missing rear seats and all) is the noise suppression, the ute gets more road noise in the cabin than the sedan does, not a big deal really.

I could've bought either one, (and would've been happy with either one) but the ute suits me better for work than the sedan would've and yes, it also saved me money and if past history is anything to go by resale will be a damn site better to.

Dagabond, I think he's asking a genuine question, he's started quite a few topics around the forum lately. He's just trying to decide which to buy, we were all faced with decisions when buying our T's whether they be sedans or utes.

yeah I wasnt complaining about anyone, I just wanted to know the reasoning behind the opinions, as I am deciding what shape to go for. I think I would like the sedan because if the options available, but my price limit is not that high, and I am a ute man anyway. Any more opinions would be very helpful...

I believe that it would be inpractial to buy an xr ute, because me personally, wouldn't want to damage it by putting stuff in the back of it!

but, it depends on the situation, if the cars gonna be for say, 5 people, you'd get the sedan but if it were for only 1 or 2, youd get the ute. Either way, they're both rippers! am I right???

despite the $9k difference!
