don't listen to the salesman, unless they are active on here and getting there info from the guys who work at ford :)

I dont know about a FGII however when I picked up my FG on 30th Aug the salesman told us there will no longer be the straight 6 - rather a V - and the addition of a XR4T. I doubt they would put changes like that under the same model - even as an additional series.

I'd like to go and turkey slap your salesman because he doesn't know his arse from his elbow. There is no V6 coming for the FG, the I6 will live on for as long as the current falcon does. END OF STORY. There will be the addition (that's right - addition, not replacement) of a I4 direct injection turbo to the range when the updated FG comes out. This is when LPI will be added also.

Also, it will not be marketed as an XR4T - there is so much wrong with that I don't even know where to start. The XR4 was a fiesta, and whats more a 2L turbo in a falcon is hardly going to be a sports model. The ecoboost engine makes similar torque to the current N/A I6 (technology is amazing ay?), hence it will be offered in similar applications (XT, G6, and anything else completely up to marketing really). Its going to be aimed fairly and squarely at the camry.

Zap, sorry to disappoint, but Ford is not far enough down the path of the program to have anything new from the falcon stable (new V8 aside - there are 4 of those) at the motorshow. It simply isn't good marketing to reveal models that early (12 months+ out) plus Ford hasn't actually built any that are show-worthy yet.

Expect the falcon update in the second half of next year.

As to car salesman saying anything to get the sale done, No Way dosnt happen, they only tell the truth! I asked both santa and the easter bunny and they agree! :spoton:

LPI means liquid phase injection, as opposed to the vapour systems currently used.

The advantage of the Ford system, and the thing that puts them in uncharted waters at them moment, is that is is single fuel LPG - no petrol. Expensive Daewoo is apparantly coming out with "LPI" before ford, but they will cheat by having a duel fuel system for startup etc.

The trick Ford will have is convincing consumers to wait for a better system, if in fact it actually is better (by all reports its a cracker but time will tell).

Oh and rab, your are correct, the 4 pot is a Ford global engine. The falcon will be its first longitudinal/RWD application.
