Well as the title says, I picked up my car from the mechanic yesterday with a recently purchased beefed up BTR 4 speed off another forum member, now I had also gotten my standard converter tricked up too (500rpm more or so) but when driving last night I just wanted to test it out but. Testing out I mean not loading it up just a quick squirt off the lights, after a while of driving gears were slipping and I noticed a mist behind me so I quickly pulled over, looked underneth and transmission fluid was pissing out everywhere and I had left a trail of fluid for as long as I can see. Hopefully it hasnt stuffed anything inside the box cause I pulled over straight away when I knew something was wrong.

So today I put in on the jack and checked everywhere for leaks and cracks, couldnt find a thing. Rang around and my mechanic and we came to the possible conclusion that because that the car was tuned with the standard box (firmer shifts) now with this box having an AU pump in it oil pressure is to much and the oil possibly came out of the breather on the top. Does that sound right??? And before anyone says anything I know I should have gotten it on a dyno for some touch ups on the box..

once you beef up auto you HAVE TO GET IT RETUNED. Tuner needs to add shift pressures and torque reduction. Sounds like your slipping 3rd to 4th. This could be the KEVLAR band. looking at 700-800$. Fix it and GET IT RETUNED.

If tuner doesnt know what torque reduction and shift pressures are, then your auto will die again :P

*Beep* I didnt reach 3rd and 4th once I took off from the lights, once I knew something was wrong I pulled over. The rear drive shaft seal looks good too, and when I stopped I looked under the car it was like a hissing sound

Was there any obvious signs of where the oil came from? Cooler pipes tight? To leave a trail down the road sounds more like a leak than breathing heavy. If there was oil pissing out everywhere it had to have come from somewhere. The breather is on the top of the box towards the rear of the casing, any oil round it? Maybe you spat the front pump seal out and now theres no oil left in it to leak.

All around the bellhousing and sump was dry, most of the oil was on the under carrage on top of the breather and towards the rear of the box, I degreased everything on the weekend. So when I fill it up again ill have a better look. Just the sound of that hissing I think it came from the breather

Ah yes, the good old 'kevlar bands and high friction clutches' line. :beerchug:

There's no aftermarket stronger parts for these boxes. They're rebuilt with standard parts.
