Most of you may notice some ads at the bottom of the screen from Google.

These ads have basically be put in place to increase income for the site, as the donations and sponsorship is not covering the cost of running the site.

You may notice that some of the ads are relevant to the site and others are not, and you may also notice that a user Googlebot has been logged into the site.

Basically the way the system works is that the Googlebot browses every page of the site and shows ads of relevance to the current page. As the forum is based on the XR6 Turbo and most threads are about Ford's you should see that the ads such as the one on the main page change to something which is more appropriate.

We do apologise for having to ad extra load time to the site, but unfortunately due to costs we have had no other choice but to implement these ads on the site.

We will trial this for the next two weeks, and if the ads have not adjusted to the correct relevance we will remove the code from the site.

Kind Regards,

FordXR6Turbo.com Team

I have no problem with this Chris, just another example of good business sense ... :geek:

Can you tell me if the act of loging onto the site will add any "adware" type components to my OS? I understand that cookies are used and that's fine, but I'm not happy if usage pattern monitoring stuff is installed ... :geek:

Hi Ken,

No definently not. Working in the IT industry i would not condone or use any sort of application/software which would invade user's or in my case our members privacy or security of their pc's.

So nothing to worry about at all... :geek:

In regards to cookies they are only used for the logging on and keeping you logged into the site, thats all.

Iv'e never seen a single ad that was not from a sponsor....??

It was installed and removed within about a week.

As for dialup being slow, this should be rectified int he new design.

Cheers
