Ba Wipers Not Returning Properly

Hey I got a 2004 ba ute that has had a new(secondhand) wiper motor put in and now wipers dont return to bottom of windscreen. The bloody things stop in the middle of the screen, ie right in my line of vision.

I have tried re-positioning the wipers themselves but the wipers start on a downward arc then go up. This means wiper blades go off the bottom of the screen. I am having to remove the wiper fuse at the right time to get wipers to sit flat at bottom of screen. Getting kinda dangerous to put in at 110km/hr.

Anyone got any ideas( Im not the sharpest tool in the shed, although I am the biggest :innocent: )

Cheers in advance

I think it is normally caused by the wiper motor not earthed properly.

Check to see if there is an earth strap or a bolt missing to earth the wiper motor.

Thanks Outlaw. It wasnt earthed properly so fixed that but will still not return to bottom of screen. Got me screwed as to what else to do, and cannot afford to pay someone to fix. :spoton:

Anyone got a spare motor and wiper assembly they wanna part with?

Thinking back the wipers starting playing up after I had the windscreen replaced as I broke old screen whilst removing broken wiper motor. Im pretty sure they were working correctly.

The splines on the inside of wiper arm are gone so wonder if this will have any effect. I have my old arms that still have a good spline but still wont return properly. :beerchug:

With the splines missing it is possible that the blade will move to a friction point then slip. Otherwise if it is holding to the motor it sounds as if the motor isnt strong enough on the return swing to get to the proper position.

Just for the sake of it take the wiper off and cycle the motor to return it to the stowed position then install the wiper in the correct position on the screen so that it should just work on the screen.

Hope that helps, tell us how you get on with that.
