Hoon tracked down via YouTube

Hoon tracked down via YouTube August 24, 2010 - 9:01AM

An alleged hoon driver, who posted his burnouts and speeding on YouTube, has been reported by Adelaide police for traffic offences.

Police said the video was posted on the internet site in November last year and showed a car doing burnouts and travelling at 210km/h in a 50km/h zone.

It was filmed by a passenger in the car and a police spokesman said that passenger and the driver had now been identified along with the location of the alleged offending in Adelaide's northern suburbs.

He said a 30-year-old man had been reported for driving at a dangerous speed and in a dangerous manner and with misuse of a motor vehicle.

He will be summonsed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.

His car has also been impounded for seven days.

"Driving at excessive speed is one of the major risk factors associated with having a crash," the spokesman said.

"Driving at extremely high speeds places the lives of drivers, passengers and other road users at unnecessary risk."

The YouTube video would be used as evidence in court, a police spokeswoman said.

If he was doing 210Kph in a 50Kph zone, the car should be crushed. Licesne disqualified for 5 years, and give him community service helping victims of road accidents.
