Hi guys,

Looks like this problem has been around awhile but I have not seen anyone have the proper answer. At about 100k my steering wheel shudders terrible. Not the same all of the time. It is not brakes, wheel balance or any obvious suspension stuff. ??? anyone

Do you have any play in the steering? Have you rotated the tyres? Have you had the tyres balanced again recently? Have you had a wheel alignment recently?

Rule out as many of the possibilities then the list gets smaller.

I have heard something about the alignment needing a little toe in so when you get to highway speeds the toe pulls to a neutral position because of the way the front end is setup. I dont know how true this is just what ive heard, someone might be able to shed some light on this.

I have eliminated most of the regular things. I have new tyres, wheel alignment, wheel balanced and and rotated. Steering is OK and no obvious suspension issues. Pretty sure it is not brakes because it happens when I am not using the brakes.

I would look at getting a On Car Balance (OCB) as it will balance the whole wheel and rotor assembly.

It will atleast give you a better idea on what is causing it. Front suspension is not rocket science, so a propper suspension place should sort it out quickly.

Do not go to a tyre place as they are limited by skill and ability.
