just ordered some 25mm rear wheel spacers and all new front lights globes today for it, looking into lowering it when I get my tax back. gonna go with bilstein shocks. Has anyone had driveshaft issues in the utes when lowered?

My mates took afew pics of car last night, here's afew to share.

Will be lowering it next week and getting new wheel spacers aswell cause the justjap ones I got had wrong hub diamater!

Should I be worried about any driveshaft issues when I lower it?

Cars looks tops mate, argents look awesome on the blue F6's. Good choice using spacers to, pump the wheels out a bit.

I'd also like to know if there is a definitive answer to the driveshaft issue with the ute's as I'm looking at lowering mine (2010 FG xr6t ute). I'll probably got he Herrod kit anyway but just want some options.

Yeh there is an answer you need a BA or BF model shaft for the utes. Im told the FG shaft is slightly longer than the BA equivalent and this is what makes the difference. I took my car to a dealer and complained about the diff being clunky and when I got it back it had a new BA shaft sitting in it..

Where can you get spacers to fit the FG utes, the hub-centric ones of course..? I want to keep the stock rims but pump them out a bit on the rear and lower it front and back.

Thanks FSX, I though it was just due to the shaft becoming more horizontal and putting more load on center bearing. I got 25mm spacers off ebay, they say they will fit ford hub the hub diamater is wrong. ford hub is around the 70mm mark I think, most spacers are 67mm. Mates dads got 30mm's on his F6 and fitment is nice, not noticable just looks clean cause stock offset is horrible!

Im not saying that is not part of the cause but I am told that the longer shaft when the vehicle is lowered forces its way into the diff and puts more sideways load on the bearings (had a childish laugh when I wrote that) cant imagine that extra load really helps the cause when your putting 270+ KW through it.

Take your spacers to a metalwork place with a lathe and have them machined out a little further...

Yeh I priced up a set of SSL's and koni shocks at all corners on mine yesterday I think a set of spacers would help complete the look, eventually I want some wider treads on the rear but until I find some wheels I like I might try the spacers. 30mm you say, might have to get the tape measure out.

Cheers,

First save your money on not getting an exhaust as you will also need to get it tuned, as the full exhaust will cause overboost and limp mode. It will also make Ford look VERY closely on any motor or drivetrain warranty claims.

The Utes do not have CV's as they have a live rear axel, so lowering in the ute is better than the sedans.

He's talking about the CV's in the tailshaft. There are 2. One in the middle and one at the back.

The back one looks like this when it goes. ford3.jpg

I've done about 25,000 kms on my custom shaft and its held up very well.

Awesome car mate, you will love it. Theres nothing better than working your guts out all day and getting into it to drive home, even if there's heaps of traffic :)

BTW, if you dont mind, how much did you pay for it? Mines a 2009 with a little less kms and was wondering what its value is.
