Hey guys

Iv been toying with the idea of getting my BA XR8 wheels powdercoated/black. I had my mates Dark Argents sitting up against my car the other day and I liked the look.

I was lucky enough to come across an xr8 the same colour as mine with black xr wheels so I got to see in the flech what it will look like (minus the xr8 bonnet and black stripes but I might go the stripes aswell lol )

If I do get it done is getting it powdercoated the same as getting them painted black? (I mean does powdercoating them make it black or more like the dark argents?)

Let us know what ya think

cheers

I just primered/painted my stock xr6 rims that have the ET Streets on. So its a bit more sleeper looking with my black front rims. Looks decent still! Looks tuff as :D

I've had wheels powder coated before, and wouldnt do it again.. It adds like a layer of 'powder' which when its finished, makes your wheel nuts hard to get back in. I ended up with scratches all round the wheel nut holes just trying to put the wheels back on.. Also when u end up scraping them its harder to fix than if they were painted..

Personally I think that powercoating is a great option, although on an XR6 rim I would look to polish out rim face just to break up the black an then use a quality clear coat to really excentuate the wheel, cheers

hey guys thanks for the replies. There seems to be abit or a debate whether to get them painted or powder coated. I can understand what ya mean about the powdercoating making it hard to put ya wheels on and that Mika, its a good point.

Mad xr2- the black wheels looked awesome on your BF,definately makes me wana get them done. So you just got them painted in 2 pak black? how much did that set you back if you dont mind me asking?

cheers

Michael
