Does anyone know what the stock pedders front rates are? I fear anything off the shelf will be far too low for a serious build like this running R tyres. ie. Teins 670lb/in do not cut the mustard, and I dont think that Pedders will be that much.

I had a feeling they were like 660, but cant remember for sure...

unfortunatly I wont be running r-specs as class rules dont allow it.

in reality I would rather start off soft and work up the spring rate / valving then start guessing and not know where to start.

Yeah fair enough, even with S tyres I can tell you 670 in the front isn't enough imho, I had the same.

I'll be following with interest, good luck

Thanks mate. The rears are in with the new bushes and the fronts go in tomorrow morning with all the new gear too. Then Over for some new rubber and then over for an alignment

Are you doing any practice days at Eastern Creek later this year?

No matter what your driving level or experience, if you haven't been there before, in car training with instructors on a drive day is invaluable in my opinion.

Driving Solutions - Eastern Creek Driver Training - Home

Eastern Creek International Raceway - Australia

For $300 you get as much private tuition as you want, as you can grab a different instructor each hourly session you go out in, if you want to. It's the quickest way to pick up some expert advice on lines from guys that have raced there for years.

I wrote down some individual corner notes/tips last time I went out with these instructors (based on my weaknesses though) and am more than happy to pass on there wisdom via a PM. Let me know.

I am excited to see this ute go as fast as possible and hopefully even go sub 1.50's like Rosie in the BA sedan!!

Considering the Cyber EVO did a 1.30.58 to win this years event it shows how far away the average joe is in comparison.

If you get a chance check out the Cyber EVO development videos on you tube. They used the same wind tunnel as the Toyota F1 team did to design the aero kit on their EVO. Those random looking pieces on their bodykit is not just there for looks.

The time the worlds best EVO teams do is irrelevant in this case but you are right, they are frightening quick. I was there this year and they sounded incredible. That Tarzan guy is a freak. Very cool and even made time for the fans in the pits too.

The Lap record for a V8 ute at Eastern Creek is around the 1min50 mark and they were running control R rated Yoko A048's from memory.

To break into the high 40's or even low 50's would be an incredible achievement on R1R's.

So no pressure! :)

now at present my ute is lightly modified though will under go a fair make over in the next few months to bring it into the relm of competitive standard.

........................

all up making a healthy 380odd rwkw on pump

I absolutely love that the words lightly modified are casually bandied around with a power figure of 380 odd rwkw...!

Sounds like a very well put together ute mate.

Am watching this thread with interest!

I think it can been done, I went out last Wednesday and only did one session before I had some minor issues and went home. I did not time any laps however I was had an evo 6 behind me and he was asking me what lap time I do. When I told him 1.53 he said not possible because he did back to back 1.50's while following me... With out a timed lap my PB is still 1.53 but I feel 1.50 on the R1R's is very possible....

(Re: a 1min50 lap) I'm positive it can be done too; just will be a great achievement.

The rear suspension set up in the turbo ute will be a crucial factor in getting effective power down off the turns. The NA v8 utes have a more progressive power delivery post apex and are more effective in this respect, but they are more stock overall than the build in this thread.

The Fernandez ford turbo in the pro class this year was good for a flat 1min40, but even with wide dunlop semis, power down was really holding the car back from dropping into the 30's.

I think they had to drop the tune back to reduce peak torque as the spinning rears were reducing the lap times.

I also agree that the more time spent testing a build like this at the actual Eastern Creek circuit, the better.
