Hi guys... so I see everyone doing there little projects here and there and setting their goals and so on so I thought it was time I did the same. now im not into drag racing so I wasnt interested in going down that path which brought me to my decision to race superlap next year down at eastern creek. I made the trip down there this year to spectate and get a general vibe of the event to better prepare myself for next years event. when I returned I made the decision to sell my bf ute in favor of purchasing either an evo 7 or a gtr... that was until one of my smart ass mates laid down the challenge, "you wont race it in your ute, your scared".

so this now brings me to the point of this thread

I will be contesting the 2011 superlap club sprint class in my XR6 turbo UTE!!

making the trip down with me will also be an r33 GTR, an r33 gtst, an s15 silvia and possibly even an 86 carolla.

now at present my ute is lightly modified though will under go a fair make over in the next few months to bring it into the relm of competitive standard.

as it sits now the ute is as below

2006 BF1 xr6 turbo ute

process west plenum

process west stage 2 intercooler

process west hot side cooler piping

process west surge tank with 044 pump

siemens deka 62lb injectors

nizpro valve springs

custom 4" cai

custom airbox with massive k&n pod

sonic performance teflon braided oil feed line with earls inline filter

garrett .7 compressor cover on the factory gt35r

etm external gate mod to factory exhaust housing

tial 44mm external gate

x-force turbo back exhaust (soon to be a custom "ground up motorsports" item)

tex twinplate clutch

all up making a healthy 380odd rwkw on pump

wheels, brakes and suspension

G-max enigma 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 wrapped in 245/18 toyo R1R tyres and 275/18 toyo R1R's

RDA GOLD slotted and dimpled front rotors running ebc greens (soon to be swapped for dba4000 with some more agressive pads front and rear)

pedders 30mm front swaybar

reset rear leaf springs

interior

pole position auto tripod gauge cluster

ppa elec boost gauge

ppa elec oil temp gauge

ppa elec oil pressure gauge

1kg fire extinguisher

now im currently in the process of purchasing / fitting a few new items as below

full rework of the suspennsion which is currently being planned with a few specialists suspension folk (the kind that wear long white trench coats and glasses) though for the class ill be racing we must use the stock pickup points

fixed back racing seats (should shave about 100kg's off the old barge)

custom gear shifter (will have to wait and see that one)

steering boss and race wheel

retune to e85

custom turbo back exhaust

custom intercooler pipework

rollover hoop with harness bar (not sure how crazy im gonna go with the hoop / cage

and about a million hours of tweaking with a good friend of mine who is a wheel alligner

new front bar with a bit of aero and ducting to the brakes

and a few other things that I will add as this all comes together

sound good mate ill be watchin this one. will you be doing any more weight shaving things? and do you want/need any more power? what about a ridiculously large wing too?

I took photos, video and did an article at this years superlap for an overseas magazine. It was an awesome event.

What times have you run in your ute at Eastern Creek previously?

There will be a fair amount more weight shaving to go with it, how far I take it will really depend on class rules and what is actually possible.

Inasnt I am from far nq and have never driven eastern creek so should be an experience. All the r and d will be done up here on the mt Stuart hill climb circuit and adapted during practice prior to the event. Having said that there is a chance I will be relocating down there soon for work so may make things a bit easier

I'd upgrade from the Process west stage 2 cooler, to Kev's stage 3 cooler... I did this and the difference was noticible in warmer conditions, and after some spirited driving.

Oh, and do you have a hard tonneau cover? the drag without one is huge!

I like it. Well done for getting involved in what was a great event in 2010.

I intend on having a trade stall at next years Superlap so let me know if I can help in anyway. I'll be making the trip down for it in my ute and will be bringing other XR6t's along for the journey.

I've taken my FGXR6T out a few times to the Creek with a best of 1min56 so far running 276rwkw.

What you need more than anything is tyres and brakes at Eastern Creek.

Your Toyo R1R's and EBC greens seriously WILL NOT cut it if you are serious about going fast.

I would recommend Dunlop DZ03G or Yokohama A050's, or Toyo R888's or Bridgey RE55's at a bare minimum. Trust me the R1R's will hold you back.

What brake cailipers are you running at present? The stock ones will be useless for supersprints and will fade badly at turn 2 and 9 by the 2nd lap.

If you on a budget, look at 4 pot Brembos up front with 355mm slotted DBA rotors. For pads I can recommend SBS dual carbon, but the top spec Endless are recommended too. You want to speak to member Rosie who has set up his BA to do 1.48's!!! (on slicks though)

If you have the $$$ go for AP racing calipers 6pot front and 4 pot rear.

Hopefully you have your suspension sorted but make sure you run around 3deg minimum negative camber at the front for a quick time.

I may even enter the event myself next year!! :)

Keep us posted on this one. Cooling brakes will be very important from what I have been told

I think you will find that last year the tyre spec for the club sprint class was <100 utqg so R1R's are a good options... I run on them both at the creek on for daily driving and find them a good tyre.

If I were you I would look at making sure power is consistent and any heat issues are sorted, if all that is ok then focus on your suspension and breaking set up. Maybe even get rid of some weight...
