Hey Guys and Gals!

My F6 is about 1800kms old, and since I bought it, the 4-pot brembo brakes squeak like hell in reverse! but in reverse only, and only at low speeds. and its really bad! very loud!

the problem became apparent to me when I first reversed it into the driveway, on my way back from the dealer after purchase. so I thought "oh yeh, brand new brakes, they'll sort themselves out, I'll get it checked at the 3000kms inspection!" but 1800kms later, they're still just as bad. even worse after I washed it, and there's a little bit of surface rust on the discs. so I went to the dealer, and the service manager told me that its a problem will ALL new FPV cars. what the??? I questioned him if its brembo's fault, or FPV's and he said "its just one of those things." what the??? he said that even on the 3000km inspection, they won't b able to fix it, it'll always be there, and never go away (his words!) he mentioned its because the pads are directional, they will always squeak in reverse and maybe forwards as well. but I've had no problems going forward.

so is this something they're just saying to me to not fix it before the 3000km inspection? or will it be sorted then, even though he said it wouldn't? I'm happy to wait till the inspection, but its become really embarrassing when I reverse into my driveway, or at the shopping center or work, cause I think people are thinking "Ohhh, brand new F6 and the brakes squeak! what a sh*t car!"

so if there are any ford mechanics out there, is there truth to their claims that it can't be fixed? or can anyone here help me and lemme know if this is a problem on ALL FPV's? or just mine? and will it go away etc? any answers will be helpful!

my mates GT is about 30000kms old, and he said his has NEVER squeaked, neither has his dad's GT-E ?

so is mine a dud???

cheers guys!

Haha! that's true!

I'm not knocking Brembo or FPV or anything, but wouldn't this be a serious design issue that should've been sorted prior to release?

how old is yours? did they feed you the same story?

My BFII T has squealed with what ever it had when I got it off the cops, with those rotors and bendix GCT pads, and now with DBA4000 slotted rotors and QFM pads. This last combo has been much better though. I learn to alter pressure to avoid the squeal. This is going forwards - I wish it was only in reverse!!!

Sadly even an FPV isn't immune. :crybaby: I agree it sounds like a cheap and nasty POS.

I have DBA 4000 Series cross drilled and slotted with Ferodo DS2500 - H compound pads..

I changed them to Bendix DB1473 Soft Compound, they dont scream no more ...

I think its best to get the right compound of brake IMO..

If you get this right, it shouldn't really squeal. But hey, who knows.. I could've been lucky..

Rust on rotors is normal.. you go to a dealer, you will see rust on every rotor in the lot.. as its sitting there not being used...

if you have rust on the rotor even after braking hard down a hill or on a highway.. then it would be something to do with your pad or caliper... (again IMO) normally its just not enough friction or the pad isn't doing its job...

Again.. everybody has different problems, hard to really pin point the exact issue..
