Robbo, he said they're standard (except for the suspension). He just listed what he's done to the car since... I think

Main thing I'd look for with an ex. cop car is underbody and suspension damage from kerb and road island mounting... engine and auto (zf) should take what they dish out as they are stock

Loving mine, blew me away when I ran a mid 13 in her with the usual F6 intake/k&n (very dirty filter too).

Enjoyed 2 years of factory warranty, now about to mod.

A+++ seller, would buy again! :spoton:

I work with Traffic cops a fair bit and all I can say is they can't leave somewhere without giving it a bootfull and that's with us watching. I can only imagine what they get up to when no ones watching.

But if you've (OP) had a good run that's great but as with buying any car put the effort in and have it fully checked out and you should be right.

I'd be mainly concerned about susspension and general underbody.

A friend lives next to a decently sized speed hump/pedestrian crossing couple hundered emters from a police station and with light on there is not much slowing down done and sparks from bottoming down are pretty common...

I would never, ever buy an ex-cop car having seen firsthand the damage and punishment they endure - especially the highway ones!

My old man’s workshop used to service a branch of the NSW police force including some highway patrol cars. Repeatedly thrashed is an understatement! Yes, they get serviced every 10k km but they just about have to rebuild them from all the damage that is caused in that previous 10k kms.

Warped disks and ruined pads from extreme heat and overuse, completely ruined suspension, wheels/tyres and undercarriage (sump, gearbox, chassis, front bumpers) from all the gutter hopping. Screw holes all through the dash from mounting the lights/computer units, cigarette burns and coffee stains throughout the entire cabin - the list goes on. They cop so much mechanical abuse it’s not funny. Like hire cars! They don't own it, so they don't care. I don't blame them, I would do the same thing to a govt. owned XR6T, but I would never buy one no matter how good it looks.

You can clearly run into the same problems with a private buyer but most private buyers don’t have the cash to fix thousands of dollars’ worth of stuff they have destroyed every 5-10 thousand kms.

Just my 2c.

When youve seen a person of interest, mechanical sympathy is the last thing on your mind.....

sorry sarge, spotted but couldnt catch the POI, was worried bout the gutter and revving the car when it hadnt reached normal operating temperature.

There is no doubt the cars aren't babied but because we have bought ex chasers over the years I have a certain amount of confidence in buying one especially ones that are still covered under warranty...The ex chaser VN V8 we got from the auctions years ago never missed a beat for years even though people were adamant that it was thrashed and wouldnt last etc...As long as it hasnt been in a crash etc...then most issues with these cars will be covered under warranty...and I have never had a warranty claim denied because my car was an ex chaser...I am indifferent toward ex chasers but on a value for money basis they are worth considering...
