Another Flip Key Q

I was looking at getting a flip key for my 05 BF xr6t. There's a few on fleabay for anywhere from 70-130 new, and the part number comes up to a FG flip key. I went to my local Ford dealer here in Perth and they said the key won't code to my car, and I'd have to get a transponder out of a new BF key blank and the door remote guts out of a BF remote and transplant them into the FG shell as the FG internals won't work at all with the BF.

So many conflicting stories- and also as an aside, I went to Mr Minit key cutting who said they charge $170 for one standard key, but and program!! They charge another $50 for a standard seperate remote which is actually not too bad, but overall seems alot!

He also said that he would charge $50 just to cut a key and wouldn't program a key that he didn't sell.

I'm bit stuck as my car only came with one key when I bought it so can't do the diy programming....

Has anyone successfully coded a flip to their early BF? Suggestions as to where to get one?

Nah you need two existing keys to do it yourself Wenier.

I had a FG key cut for my BF at the key cutting joint in the local shopping centre - cost $15 or something from memory and programmed it myself...so your Ford dealer is full of  (unless they've recently changed something on the keys).

Thanks- I had a good chat with one of the guys on ebay selling them and he said that the issue arises when people try and code the focus/mondeo keys which look identical but have different transponders. The BF ones work no problem apparently so I have bought one and we'll see what happens. Just have to stump up for Ford's exorbitant reprogramming charges- and find a key cutter who is half way reasonable. Thanks for the help.
