($3-$6k away from a stockie now) I think Ford have come to the party red-faced  not only have they produced an absolute asassin of a car the terminator is now giving Ford all the marketing grief of their worst nightmares .... IMHO the discontent in the Ford range will become more evident with time and subsequent releases of new models .... gotta say guys .. the FPV impact on the XR8 is ordinary ... the GT hasn't got the wood over the XR8 ... not by a long stretch ... a $20k starter button on the dash .... wtf :lol:with that said, one would think that the XR8ers would be reasonable happy with their posi in the tree ... but nop .... the XRters have thrown a spanner at that plan interesting times .... to Ford for the pathetic marketing of the Ford Cobra in the last year .... PLEASE LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES HENRY !!!!!!

Posted 17/10/03 11:37 PM Author Share Posted 17/10/03 11:37 PM Blkxrt,Mate, do yourself a favour and take the XR8 for a run, preferably twisty bits, then do the same stretch of road in the GT, both manuals of course And then tell me you are paying $8,700 just for a starter button (price difference between XR8 and GT). I would be very interested in your critique.Mondie...........what's your opinion?
Guest LOK@ChipTorque Guests Posted 18/10/03 12:58 AM Share Posted 18/10/03 12:58 AM I would also like to know which six speed they intend to use. AFAIK Mal Wood's XR8 and my LOK11 are the only two BA running T56's at present (unless Mal supplied some test units to Ford for their test mules??? :banghead: ??? )BLKXRT you don't need to spend 3k to get 280kW in the aftermarket. I'm sure that a ChipTorque/Nizpro, DynoSteve or APS kit will get you over that in a second.Hmmm maybe you meant 280kW @ the wheels. that's more that 8k I'd think

Out goes the T5 gearbox and In goes a 6 speeder, the same one in the Holden HSV V8's. The auto is being replaced with a (speculated) Jaguar S-type. Bad news the GTHO will probably be at least 2 years away, supercharged 5.4ltr making around 360kW with 'astonishing' torque levels from low revs.October 2004??? What the!!! The GT is a bargain compared to the XR8 when you consider for your $8700 extra you get;- 30kw + with great lowdown torque and a menacing exhaust note- Premium brakes- 5x18" alloys- Side airbags- Awesome handling/ride compromise- Wild bodykit- Better seating materials and finish- Heritage and hopefully better resale- A bit of exlusivity and the best looking Aussie made car ever (IMO of course B) )Lots of trivial things that make the car a better package. Totally agree Mondie,I'd normally love an XR8 and it's a lovely car, but with the GT around it's very hard to justify if your a V8 nut. Where the XR8 comes in handy is when you are buying for keeps and want to supercharger without worrying about heritage. For the similar money as a GT you get a wild 400kw car.You could of course do the same to a GT but;1) Kiss resales and heritage out the window2) FPV will not want to ever know you again3) The cars power is 'almost' good enough not to worry about Supercharging it for road use.4) Your GT is now a $70k+ car. GT-P anyone?

Cobra potty trained Lifetime Members 1,938 Member For: 21y 9m 26d Gender: Male Posted 18/10/03 07:44 AM Share Posted 18/10/03 07:44 AM hey guys for a minute there I thought I was in ff in the FPV section bagging the thing  SilverHawk, oops, I mean "RedHawk" ... mate, I tried the BA V8s ... and yes the GT is a little better than the XR8 ... it doesn't take rocket science to balance the XR8 and do the $2k worth to make it feel like a GTI think the Boss V8s ALL drive like ploughs ...IMHOGTs or XR8 or Boss220 ... you can set the handling in an afternoon so they are generally the same .. it is all done by smoke and mirrors  or was it shocks and springsMondie, I think you know how much I value heritage and the sheer presence of a great car .... the GT has a lot to live up to yet, but nothing a good supercharger wouldn't fix B) good reaction guys
