I have a BA XR6T 4 speed auto that goes into limp mode.

I have made a post on this previously.

I have had replies of "GET THE LIMP MODE DISABLED".

Is this definately possible ?

the reason cars go into limp mode is generally caused by a fault in the emissions control system or serious gearbox issues, you can clear the fault codes which should disable limp mode but it will most likely go into it again if the fault has not been rectified.

so yes you can disable limp mode

BUT if you dont fix what is causing it to go into limp mode in the first place it will happen again.

hope that makes a bit of sense.

Whats causing it to go into limp mode first?

Seems better to fix the problem by working out whats causing it.

Possum beat me too it

havnt had a ford do it to me, but normally the ecu limits engine power and most likely will not change gears, and is generally indicated by a flashing light on the dash, I think with the fords the d (for drive) will flash in the instrument cluster

I have a couple of issues which I believe are the cause.

P1270,Engine rpm or vehicle speed limiter reached.Forced shut down active after rpm guard codes P2105 or P2110.

P2100,Throttle actuator open circuit.

P2105,Throttle actuator control system,Forced engine shut down.

The throttle errors are due to aftermarket ecu install.

DBW controlled by the aftermarket ECU.

I can probably work around these issues and get these errors sorted.

However if it is possible to disable the Limp Mode completely it would be easier.

Many codes can be turned off if that's what you want to do. Take the list of codes to your tuner.....should take them 10 min to go throught the list.
