It does highlight the sad (my opinion only) fact that the old days of experimenting and playing around with cars are gone, and that the new way of doing things is to visit "your" tuner, give him a cheque and tell him/her you will be back next week to pick it up..

"Herrods can load you a tune for the track and another for the street",

I use only one tune, pump fuel for race or street. These cars idle like standard and drive like standard, why have 3 tunes for I dont see the point.

Maybe if your divulging in racefuels I can understand, or a wife that drives it too

sh*t fuel causing detonation/pinging is one main reasons why 3 tunes are loaded, plus a valet tune for putting your car in for repairs or new tyres, etc.

Alot of people do "dabble" in a race fuel tune (98oct/toluene, etc) for the drags and mainly to give the motor more head room plus the ability to run more boost and timing more safely.

very interesting on page 106

simon from nizpro says stock FG can be tuned to 275rwkw but cat will be dead in weeks and power will drop back to 250rwkw

I was about to post up a thread in G6E forums as to the possibilities of the car learing around the tune

for a few weeks after the tune my car was pulling 0-100km/h consistantly in 4.8 average on the g based testers I use

last few weeks I have started driving it more and more, instead of 20km a week and have noticed its slower, no one else can pick it (passangers) but I know its not going as hard.... ive been thinking of everything....

surely it couldnt be the new exhaust tip I had fitted (tip only 3" inlet twin 2.5" tips), but under wot since just the tip swap its been louder and you can hear that sucking sound like on an AU or something stok with a too small exhaust....

anyways, do some testing and my thoughts are confirmed no longer can I pull high 4's but it wont break 5's 0-100 and averages 5.1+ and dosent wheelspin its nut off like it used to..... still goes hard though.... based on g force/weight calculations and some fine tuning my device used to read approx 280rwkw when pulling a 4.75 0-100km/h time (device very accurate and track tested at heathcote to within 0.01 of track timers) now im pulling 244rwkw

so I flash to stock and reflash performance tune same still slow..... still boosts hard and no cutout or cel or fault codes show....

is Simon right? is my cat buggered? how else could I tell without taking it off? im replacing it soon anyway, but was going to do valvesprings first

any other ideas, cars only 6k old and up untill a few weeks ago was going hard and still does but it is down a few kw, no boost leaks nothing else I can see.... what do ya reckon?
