Guys,

Well.. After about 7 hours the Phantom is now all nice and clean.

I removed the plastics around the base of the seats, along the door sills, front kick panels (they are a bugger to get off as you need to unbolt the bottom seat belt bolt - Torx 50 - I plan on puting a how to togther if anyone is interested on how to get all these bits off), I removed the outer and inner door rubbers.

Once all the plastics were removed I scrubed them with a soft brush and worm soapy water and scrub away!...

I also vacumed the carpet in all the small nooks etc as it is much easier if the plastics are removed from the bases of the seats... Looks much better!!. :innocent:

I poped down the local dealer to order a new crome / silver finish panel on the passenger side below the air bag and above the glove box as at some point on the trip it got scratched by something ($50 bucks later - on order). I trived to get the scratch out with prep wash as I thought it was rubber on the top.. This did not work. I ended up rubbing off some of the paint. Oh well.. I needed a new one anyway. I did think about replacing the plastic mould along the inside of the boot as it is fairly scratched.. But thought I would not bother as it will just get scratched again. (they are about $40 ea) I will replace it if I sell it...!

Anyway.. All nice and clean now.

Did I say.. What a Top car...!! :banghead:

The only other small issue I have come across was the diff. It started to make some strainge noises. (clunck when stoping at lights, high pich whine when just on acceleration at 100K and a clunck sounds when off power going around round abouts.) I took the BTR guy for a spin today and he approved the local dealer to replace the diff... Once again top Ford Service.! :banghead:

Regards

Brendan

P.S. Here is a few pics of the head light protectors. If they have moved on the light they scratch the head light or the front bar. The first pic is a view of the scratches on the front bar just at the top left of the inner side of the head light.

Here is a pic of the right head light. You can see the scratches on the inside of the protector and the outside of the head light. (where dust or grit has got in and rubbed them when it was not ligned up correctly..)

I am not looking to complain but just want you guys to be aware that this can happen.... :innocent:

Gee thanks..

Nope. No screws left over.. Just a broken clip on the B pillar plastics.. No harm still fits perfectly! :innocent:

So bdennis, what do you think of the strength of the alloy

rims on the T?

Was the buckel relevant to the pot hole or not(bang for buck)

or if you had steel rims would this have happend, to many stories about these alloys coming up for my liking.

PS did the same sorta trip 12 years ago,17 foot van, pajero, the most fun you can have with your clothes on,arnt the OZ folks just the best out in the sticks! The T would have had them going on at every servo for sure.

Vik351,

It was a large hole and the angle I hit it on was a bit odd.. plus I had 40+psi in the tyres and they are 45 series side walls.. Also the buckle is in between the spokes.. So the long and the short of it is.. Yes I did exepect something..

I dont think a steel wheel would have done the same use to the profile of the tyres we use on the steel wheels...

I would recomend the trip to anyone...
