Lucky bugger Brendan, good luck with it all and l hope the T performs flawlessly.

Should have got Ford to sponsor you, sounds like a gruelling test for the XR6T. :beerchug:

OK Guys...

Calm down.. I am glad I did not give anyone my address!!!

Any how.. Here is an update for you all...

It has been a top trip so far.

Day 1 - Violet town to Bourke up the kidman way. Temp up to 38 deg.

Day 2 - Bourke to Charleville

Day 3 - Cahrileville to Longreach (2 days) - Fantastic QANTAS museum!

Day 5 - Lonreach to Cloncurry

Day 6 - Cloncurry to Mt Isa (42 deg) (2 days)

Day 8 - Mt Isa to Tennant Creek (43 deg)

Day 9 - Tennant creek to Katherine (42 Deg) - Katherine Gorge fantastic (2 days)

Day 11 - Katherine to Kakadu - 2 days 24 deg - Wetlands fantastic

Day 13 - Kakadu to Darwin - 40 deg not too humid! Nice place!

Given the weight of the van (around 1400 - 1500KG I guess!) the XR has perforned flawlessly!. On the 42 deg days the water temp gues up to just under the middle line and stay put. (as it would not towing the van).

I normay sit on around 90 to 95KM/h as the fuel consumption is ok arounf that speed. With out a head wind it runs at abount 15-16.5 L/100K. With a hot head wind it runs up around the 19 -20l/100k. With a tail wind it runs about 14-15L/100K.. Not bad realy!. It has not use any oil at all and all other things are just great. The Air con is getting a work out for us lowly Victorians!!

Staying off the roads after 6:00pm to avoid skip and his friends!

At one point the wife decided that she would drive over a dead small skip rather than going around. The rear IRS hosing and tow chains has other ideas so skip went clunk / bang as we went over him. Awfull mess on the tow chains and all over the front of the van. Fortunately he was not sucked up into the front air dam (just high enough!). After a quick mop up just before the bits began to stink and back to good as new..

Not much more to say realy. Appart from.. What a top car. Soooo much better than and AUII XR6VCT. Need to over take a truck. No problems. Back a cog (auto) and away she goes. So effortless... Thanks uncle Geoff!!

Here are a few quick pics of the car and a Kakadu shot for you..
