I was interested in buying a Rapid V3.0, though I have heard of people having to cut stuff out to make them fit... for me that's a huge no no..

I was also looking at the plazmaman 800hp kit or processwest stage 3.

Can anyone tell me from there own experience what actually fits nicely?

Didnt want to go the Nizpro as I really dislike the intercooler shape.

Thanks!

Here's one someone prepared early.

Sorry that's FG, but I'm sure there's a similar one in the Intercooler section for B series. If you can't find it try Rapidsystems or Process West they both supply a variety of coolers for all different applications.

Keep in mind though if you want a big cooler your more then likely going to have to make a little room for it.

If you are looking at going for a bigger cooler then you will require a small amount of cutting - no way to get around it.

I fitted my Plazmaman 800hp kit and there was some minor grinding involved. I mean taking like 1-2cm worth of metal off the front support and bending the air-cond lines out of the way - that's all. The rest was a true bolt in jobbie, which is very rare!! I was NOT keen at all on doing any cutting and minimal "permanent" modifications to the car and this kit was very good for that. As I said, it is inevitable that some cutting is required as a bigger cooler, just 'aint gunna fit into the hole ford provided.

I did a detailed write up on it ages ago with piccy's and stuff - which was in the Plazmaman sub-section or the forum, but that is now gone. The mods might be able to dig it up for you.

Also, depending on what the guys from Plazmaman are doing these days, I actually wrote their instruction manual they were giving out to people who were interested in fitting the 800 kit at home. Not sure if they still use it or not.

do you want performance or looks?

Hehe. Not that he needs backing up but I have to back Mick on on this one.

The opposing end tank design is a large part of the reason why these I/C's work so well. I have the early version 2 Nizpro cooler and it works very well. Data logging showed that temps never rose by 9 celcius over start temps. That goes for the 3 times it was re-tuned after fitting this cooler. Last session was after fitting new coil packs and we made 370rwkw @ 17psi on a 30+degree day.

They do seem to work very well.

The rwc inspector may not even notice, but if they do it will be a panel shop job to replace the front bar and then the cooler will not refit.

I'm sure a lot of testers will not even pick it up.

If your not happy on how the Nizpro cooler looks just go black. As stated they work very well and are very easy to fit.If you update to a plenum later on its just one hose that will be needed. Nothhing worse than having to cut and grind the front steel structure of your car to fit a cooler. If you do make sure you rust treat it.
