silkhammer New Member 9 Member For: 16y 4m 30d Posted 26/07/10 05:07 AM Share Posted 26/07/10 05:07 AM I'm looking at changing the gearbox oil in my FG manual, after about 40k - while it's a lot better to use now that it's been run in a bit, it's still fairly arkward when cold, to the point of graunching into 2nd fairly consistently. Anyone found an oil that's worked well for them? Apparently Transmax was the go with the T56, is that still applicable to the TR6060? Cheers. Transmax Z is the most popular, but there are others like Penrite Sin etc etc

Posted 26/07/10 06:52 AM Share Posted 26/07/10 06:52 AM I used Penrite SIN. Was abit cheaper than Transmax Z and ive been happy with it. Although the box is a bit harsh for the first few changes in the morning. Might need a top up.

I was speaking to a tranny specialist today and he told me that the SIN penrite was not the way to go. He also recommend the 75W/80 instead of the synthetic 70W/75, as he said that it will provide for smoother shifts, and was better for the syncros. We have found that Transmax Z is the best oil for these transmissions. We have tried all the other oil on the market, and this was our conclusion.
