Ihave done a search on all relavent posts on this topic.

I am wondering what Scan tool people are using.

I am wishing to purchase a scanner to suit BA MK1 through to FG if available.

With a preference to also connect to my laptop,if possible.

I wish to be able to retrieve error codes and clear them.

Also view any available data.

Thanks in advance.

This is one of the Units I got !

CAN BUS OBD 2 OBD2 USB Car Diagnostic Interface Scanner.

From : CAN BUS OBD 2 OBD2 USB Car Diagnostic Interface Scanner - eBay Diagnostic Tools, Tools, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 22-Jul-10 20:37:50 AEST)

I also payed for and use the software from here. This is the one I like the most.

You may download and install ProScan by clicking on the link below. The full version will be installed, but you will not be able to connect to a vehicle without a valid serial number. ... which I got.

From : http://www.myscantool.com/download/

And this one will also read ABS codes and much more ..

At : MaxiDiag US703 GM/Expensive Daewoo Ford OBD2 Scanner Code Reader - eBay Other, Tools, Car Parts, Accessories, Cars, Bikes, Boats. (end time 11-Aug-10 21:36:00 AEST)

Thanks for the reply mate.

The USB scan interface looks like the go.

Seems cheap, $54.

In your opinion it works fine.

The other scan tool you provided the link for looks good also.

I might purchase them both and have a play.

Any other options worth looking at.

You have to log direct to a laptop and then save as a .csv file

DTC's you read straight from the xcal device.
