Looking at carpoint at 2010 (and one 2011) plate XR6T's tonight and noticed something from the front shots. It appears the infamous plastic intercooler fitted mostly to the 50th anniversary models has bitten the dust - yeah! First I thought the dealers were using old photos but it appeared again and again. If this is true, WTF Ford! Waste R&D on developing a sh*t plastic alternative, then bin it anyway! Has anyone else noticed this or better, can someone confirm? Cheers, Bomber.

Umm,

What I meant was who leaves the stock cooler in there anyway? I have plastic end tanks but I don't loose sleep over it because I know it's gonna be scrapped for a PW kit in the not to distant future.

Plenty leave them on mate and they still make good power. Don't forget, the standard FG cooler is bigger than anything factory fitted to BA/BF, even in FPV spec.

The puss plastic tank version basically f*cks you from running extra boost with reliability due to it's press fit construction. I get your point in that their basically 'throw aways' however, where I'm coming from is that they had a half decent product then went cheap and nasty. So do the R&D which costs sh*t loads, roll out a cheaper alternative only to reintroduce the original? Dumb as when you consider the money they could chuck at other things that need fixing like piss weak diff bushes, tailshafts, etc.

Don't get me wrong I agree it was one of many dumb moves by Ford but all the more reason to upgrade. Yeah there are some people who make ok power with them but you will suffer mass heat soak, need more boost and therefor have more stress on the engine. Not worth it IMO.

I wonder if you could break the seal and take it in as a warranty issue and get a metal one, I think mine already has a leak :bangcomputer:
