My BF Mkii T has done 80,000kms and makes a very loud whining noise when I press on the accelerator (it gets louder the harder I press). This is the second time it's happened, the first time it started making this noise was at 33,000kms and the dealership was able to replace the turbo and the sound went away. My serivce history had been perfect to this point with only the 30,0000 service happening at 30200km. Now recently the noise is back and my dealership made a claim to replace the turbo but because I was over by 2500km on my 45,000km service, Ford have denied the claim.

They're saying due to the servicing not happening every 15,000km exactly, the oil might have gone off and this has damaged the bearings (which is what the dealership suspects is causing the noise). What's annoying is I can't even tell them that I know that's unlikely because I change oil and filter myself in between every official service with the proper stuff. 13 Ford doesn't want anything to do with it, the dealership have done all can apparently and the warranty guys that denied the claim I can't even get in contact with because everybody protects them from being contacted by customers. What should I do? I don't have $7k to replace a turbo.

Get onto an site sponsor and just get your turbo reco'd, IIRC its 1400 odd dollars plus labour.

You can try consumer affairs and all that crap but at the end of the day that wont get your turbo fixed.

What area are you from?

go to another dealer. I think 2k over is pretty harsh. Is there any way you can prove that the car is serviced every 7,500k.

Surely they can tell by looking at the oil that it cleaner than normal

Thanks for heads up Henz, by the way I've moved the topic to the Gen Vehicles Forum (didn't know I was posting in the wrong area)

Yeah, that's the feeling I'm too about the consumer affairs stuff.

From Glen Waverley area in Vic.

Don't pay $7000! we recently fitted a complete brand new unit (except for actuator and bracket) for around $3300 (approx price, not on the work computer at present) and this included the larger flapper and wastegate
