Does anyone know if there are still issues with the hinges / brackets / bracing now used on the FG Bulge type hard lids or has this now been rectified or the dealers have now had more practice installing them.

Also who paints them EGR or Ford or Dealer ?

Cheers

the other locking mechanism is the LidLok systems works sweet and very reliable. it means servos x 2 mounted in ute not the lid (no wires to take off) and integrates with programing in the Flat Top . install takes 2 hours trev

I think he's talking about the way the BF buldge hardcovers don't fit neatly. My mate has a lowndes xr8 with the buldge and wing hardcover and it hangs over the tailgate by 15-20mm can stick your fingers in the gap. My slimelime one doesn't fit the best either rubs on the cab, and the struts were upside down from factory, I tried adjusting it but it doesn't fix the problem.

Yes the bulge plastic lids are shockers and I had to adjust the locks myself also as the lazy bastards in the dealership could not be bothered. I much prefered the fit and finish of the Ford factory fibreglass lid on my old BA ute. It fitted heaps better than the plastic sh*te they are using now and boy is there a difference between the build standard of the two vehicles.

They look like they fit alot neater than the earlier ones. I like the darker version of those wheels too.

I myself am looking at a hardcover since I have found the tonneau difficult for quick access.

The two main covers they offer are below:

Flat hard Cover

Buldge hard cover

Other then the obvious price difference and the buldge, are these both the same?

And are there any annoying problems with either before I purchase :D?

I have an EGR bulge lid on my fg and it's fine. Ford didn't fit it though and it's got the intrgratred locking and led light.

yeh same here, fits and works perfect!

I had a massive overhang problem at the rear with my hard lid aswell.

But one day after work I took the time out and took it all off and see what was going on.

Brackets were way to far forward. Just modified the brackets a bit and she's all good =].
