Hi All,

I purchased a bf mk2 f6 Typhoon a couple of weeks ago. Its a zf 6sp auto, with about 60,000kms and stock standard. Iv noticed whenever I accelerate hard and then back off, the car seems to be making a loud thumping sound which sounds like its coming from the engine bay. My thoughts are it could maybe be the engine mounts, but is there any way of narrowing it down to what it could be? Has anyone had a similar issue?

Regards,

David

Pop the bonnet and see if there is a tear in the fire matting/heat matting on the under side of the bonnet. When my engine mount went the engine lift point near at the top of the motor put a tear in that stuff. If that is marked in the same spot as the lift point busted engine mount. Or put your foot on the brake and load it up and have a mate look at the engine while u load it up. If it twists there u go.

Mine does the same if I let off the go pedal in the middle of giving it loads. I thought mine sounded like it was coming from the rear though, so I suspected the usual bush squashing/bolt hitting the housing. Haven't considered it might be the engine mounts, just out of warranty too!
