Short engine is the bottom end mate... Doesn't include head...

Long motor includes head...

Before you go rushing into anything. Your engine needs to be checked. Get a compression/leak test and see what that comes up with. That will tell you if there are issues with your rods/pistons. From there you can start to talk options. Every one on here is going to "PUSH" you towards getting a build engine or a short motor. Its your car, what do you want from it?

Can you or do you want to afford to go crazy on your car now, or even later on in life?

Cheap and nasty, get a engine swap from a wrecker and be done with it.

Solid option, get a fg/f6 short motor and swap the gear over, is a better option over a BA engine

Expensive option. Get a build engine, even if you dont want to spend up big on mods now, it wont break and you can always put money at it later and push 400+kws safelyish...

So in short, what do you want from your car?

Where can I get a compression leak test done?

All I wanted from my car was a custom tune for now with minor mods..

Don't really have any money especially to throw on a new engine.

Im going to assume any mechanic can do a compression test. Its just a little do flacky that you screw into were the spark plug sits and you turn the car over. From there is gets a reading, they test each cylinder indervidualy, not sure on the cost of the do flacky but I mean its not a complicated process, and wouldnt be expensive.

I know its a common thing for boat mechanics to do it to check engine wear and the likes in outboards. Make ring one of them guys.

:buttrock: Take it to someone that knows what they are looking at. First thing is to diagnose the problem then take it from there.

Generic tunes are absolute crap, I just dont see why people continue to use them. Good luck but it seems that you are going to be up for a few $$$....

You can hear the injectors with the bonnet down let alone bend rods? More like, can you hear in the cab? Or even can you hear it when you standing out the back of the car.

There was a vid some one posted ages ago of his engine ticking. Had bent rods. Sounded pretty loud.

its not that loud from in the cabin. You can slightly hear it in the drivers seat, when doors are closed and bonnet is down. If you're sitting in the drivers seat with the door open you can hear it louder coming from underneath.

when the bonnet is up, if you put your head towards the back of the engine on the turbo side you can hear it louder, or if you squat down to the front wheels, you can hear it the loudest.

I took it to Bluepower Racing today and they suggested to just leave it with ford. They also said that ford will not be able to tell if it has been boosted, so my warranty may not be void. They said that ford can only tell on the FPV vehicles for some reason.

Get a compression test done to verify it is a bent rod...even if you take it to Ford they wont be able to diagnose the problem by listening to it...they will want to strip the motor to diagnose the problem and they will charge accordingly...

Cheapest option is to do a compression test...sometimes a bent rod tapping noise doesnt seem all that loud but can be very sinister...in some cases a rough idle can be an indicator of a bent rod due to the uneven compression...
