Hey guys,

Which tyres should I be looking for my standard FG 18 inch rear rims.

I have 280rwkw atm, but will be maxing out the turbo soon.

I dont want to change rims, as I want keep the factory look.

The car will be used on the street, rarely down the track, so tyre life would be important.

Basically want an upgrade, that would see less wheelspin off the line, or...will it even make much difference?

Cheers !

I think you will have trouble containing wheel spin with 280RWKW and std rims. Could go for a softer compound tire to help somewhat but tire life will suffer esspecialy if driven hard.

Im looking at new rubber at the momnet and having the same problem.

Cheers,

Matt

You'll need a semi slick to stop wheelspin on a maxed out turbo... Maybe kuhmo ku36... They will last a bit longer than other semis...

Next option is a Toyo... Think it's a T1R...

Anything that will grip will be soft compound and not last long...

You play... You pay!!!

I run Toyo r888 on my Mazda RX7 with 200 rwkw. They hook up nicely, just don't expect to get many klms out of them.

I have some bridgestone adrenaline that are going to be fitted to my ute on thursday in 245/40r18. $420 a corner.

Size should be same as standard 245/40/18 and available sizes can be found on the net for each brand. Life will depend highly on your driving style but soft tyres may only last 15000k if you use them as intended.

Thanks Benny,

I'm presuming your having no probs with the KU36's and your 340rwkw?

Where did you get them?

Kvbaby,

Unfortunately KU's don't come in 19's in the size I need, if they did I'd buy them, but I have friends using them and they are great for street use and quite well priced. I currently have Pirelli P Zero's ($600ea) which are much more expensive and wear just as quick.
