I've tried both in cars I've owned - currently in a BA with 4 speed Auto. I liked my BF with ZF 6 Speed - it's adaptive so learns your driving style and holds gears better around corners. But the ZF is locked down, so if you get a custom tune, the tuner can't make changes to it to complement his changes to the ECU, whereas he can if it's a 4 speed auto.

I think prolly the ZF 6 speed is still my choice of auto. The gear lever does not reach over the left as much in Performance mode as well, but that's a personal preference thing.

6 speed can handle 400+ rwkw's 4 speeds have been known to crap themselves with not much more than stock power!!

If you can afford the 6 go for it (as long as the rest of the car is up to scratch). Holds more power stock, and has 50% more gears!

  • Three pedals are better then two..
