After reading all this I can't believe that no one posting (or related to them) was stung by work choices? I work in the mines, and am a union member, so read into that what you may. But, Labor got a pay increase for the lower income earners, LNP barred it off, Labour is pushing for a 12% Super rather than the 9% we have now, LNP is gonna sh*t can that too.

Look at how Abbott came into power, when the mining companies couldn't get their way with the federal gov on their $10B ambit claim over emissions trading, they instigated a revolt against Malcolm Turnbull, abbott is now the mining bosses puppet.

Working for BHP/BMA, It's been a huge talking point at work. BHP, Rio, Xstrata all reached an agreement to pay the tax. Does anyone seriously believe that the 3 biggest mining companies in the world would agree to a tax if it was bad for business? Tony Abbott owes his leadership position to the Mining bosses, so they will be demand more industrial relations changes. So, he'll hand them back their $10.5B, and owe it to them big time if he gets ellected, and 'work choices' will be back on the agenda.

When was Abbott ever in power?

I can't believe how people can be so misinformed or is it just pig ignorance ? Just goes to show how the great unwashed will see an incompetent and irresponsible Govt returned to power FFS

I am more than happy to debate any Labor stooges and will take them apart point by point. Next

The big 3 account for how much of this countries mining revenue ?Your treasury estimates are based on what?

Yeah that was just stupid. The first 98% of the story had some merit though - all they are concerned abut is the next election. No big ideas or anything anymore.

I seem to remember that 2 years ago the unions where complaining to LABOR (KRudd) that they were not changing enough of workchoices legislation, they even ran a TV campain against their very own LABOR party.

How bad is workchoices ? I personally thought it made industrial relations far better, allowing people to negotiate entiprise agreements that suited them.

The reason the unions hated them is it allowed people to get rid of unions from their workplaces. Gone are the days of closed shops and union bullying.

Funny how all labor can do is use workchoices as their only attack agains the Liberals, where most people did not have a problem with it.

My biggest fear is that all the Labor voters that are not going to vote labor this time, will vote greens and they have no idea what a policy is and what they would do with the balance of power.

I bet the greens have the balance in the senate and will whore themselves out to whoever will agree to their stupid ideals. God help us if they do get the balance of power as we will all be farked.

As for the mining tax, the ONLY reason the 3 big miners signed is they were promised a secret deal from the skanky ranga that will be revealed in due time. The big 3 signed as either they would get a good deal or the will not have a tax if the liberals won, either way they win and it is all done and dusted.

What I have found amazing during this election campaign is the sheer lack of questioning of Dullard and Co on costings....ie intensely question a $6b internet plan but blindly accept a $43b+ one (that was worked out on the back of an envelope and a couple of days "discussions"). Breathtaking stuff for it's lack of process, thought and rigour. What a gamble.

And now they are doing EXACTLY the same thing again with the Epping to Parramatta rail line announcement.

Julia Gillard's rush for city train for Epping to Parramatta for the Federal election | The Daily Telegraph

If you vote for them for your own reasons fine. But if it's for reasons such as that "I can't trust the opposition", or I haven't made up my mind yet......ARE YOU SERIOUS? What more bl**dy evidence do you need?????????

Not a fan of Abbott generally, but I do respect him for standing up against Turnbull when he didn't have an assured win if he challenged. That took guts to stand up for what many Australians wanted him to do. On the other hand, Gillard booted out Krudd knowing she would have an easy win, she sailed into the top job too easily. She never fought for it.

There are many other reasons I will not vote Labor this election, but there is one thing that really gets my blood boiling that sealed the deal for me. Whenever she was interviewed and asked about massive waste in the BER scheme, she would laugh it off. She would blatantly laugh in the interviewer's face and thus to all Australians who were looking for a credible answer and explanation. She would treat the interviewer, and hence all Australians with such contempt in doing so. She would not even agree to have the particular cases investigated or review the scheme to avoid it in future. She laughed at you and I whilst holding a flame up to handfuls of our cash (make that our borrowed money).

I find it very frustrating when people say, can I trust Abbott? What are you basing that fear off? Better the devil you know maybe?

I also find the polls very interesting, I read various newspaper editorials, opinion columns and blogs showing a larger percentage of people supporting Liberal, but when the polls are run such as the Neilson, Labor are usually in front. How can that be? I have come to the conclusion that Labor voters have very much retreated to the closet this election because of the Krudd Gillard shambles, yet are still willing to vote for what has proven to be a very incompetent government. Why wouldn't you say enough is enough and vote out this circus. labor have royally shagged NSW and QLD, yet people continued to vote for them....I think far too many Australian's have a sense of entitlement to other tax payer's dollars, Labor hands it out like it's Monolopy money then realises there's none left so they take more from the people and businesses who have worked hard for their money. A perfect example is Land Tax in NSW, no other state has it. It is specifically a tax grab at people who have worked hard and have an investment property.
