I dont have a big plenum. but I told my tuner I want 400rwkw with the standard one, just to see what reaction I would get. he squirmed a bit, but didnt say he couldnt do it.

when I got my latest tune done on the dyno, the other guys pooped their head in and yelled out 'Bang' during the business end of the run... :nyaah:

im prepared to fork out for the new motor if this one pops, but I'd like to see what this one will handle just for s&its n giggles

On a std engine its abit of a gamble but if the tuner knows what there doin it amazing what these engines can put up with. The trick is make sure you have good fresh fuel if you do intend to give it a hard time & add some octane booster never hurts.

I ran up to 21psi but mainly 19 on my old bf mkII engine & never had any probs but I was always careful with fuel & the thought of bang was always in the back of my head. I'm runnin up to 26psi on pump fuel at the moment but daily is 20.

I think you're all forgetting that boost pressure is irrelevant. It's how much POWER you're making and even then it's not categorical. the two main things that kill an engine are detonation and too much RPM. Now detonation can come from a whole range of things, too much timing, not enough fuel, too much power too low in the rev range, boost spites (which would come up under "not enough fuel") and so forth...

Danny (headsex) has been making 380rwkws through his 100% stock BA long motor for 60,000km, with heaps 1/4 mile runs in the low 11s, high 10s. he's blown up several 4-speeds and now the diffs sounds to be on it's last legs...

I just asked my tuner today for 470hp/350kw @ the rears so I'm guessing they will run around the 17psi mark. I'll let you know how it goes this arvo....
