Anyone running over 17psi on a stock BA Bottom end is craaazy!

- If they hammer it!

It's not a matter of if, but when it will let go!

not really, alot of cars are doing this easily and comfortably, I was running 17-18 psi standard turbo ba mk1 stock bottom end and thrashed it a fair bit, as long as the tune and mod's are right then theres no worries, mine did over 100000 km's like that!!

And I bent Con Rods on 270rwkw 7 Years ago with a lot less Boost!

Pete, with STD 10S, has consistently run 10.7's at the Drags, and no one really knows why it hasn't self destructed!

But it's a known fact they are not built to cop big boost!

My option was the safe one!

- I had the Motor built.

7 years ago? its a different story now..plenty of cars making 400+ rwkw's without any issues, a good tune and right mod's it can be done and last, I'd go for it Scott!!

Telling someone to run that much boost on a stock bottom end is a bit rich. Yeah people are getting away with it but as someone said it's only a matter of time. 7 years ago they were new BA's blowing up, now there 7 years old. Think about it.

And yeah there allot of cars running 400+ now days but if you look closely the majority are Typhoon engines.

yeah ba mk11. walbro, bosch, surge, ethanol, a great tuner. im running 17 now, and arent too keen on losing a bit of rw power with the hi stall sucking some. 19- 20 psi's a goer I reckon. if I blow it up, so be it. then I have an excuse to put an fg 310 motor in. :w00t2:

hey, if I ask my wife for permission to spend 6k on a new motor while im holding a piece of a rod in my hand, the answer is more likely to be yes.

no one here is fooling me into doing it, dills. I know the risks. my tuner has said 'I wouldnt but its up to you' ever since going over 14psi. :nudie:

my goal is 400rwkw with a new donk, so I'll have to get one sooner or later anyway.

when its capable of low 11's, I'll stop planning more power... :blaah:

Haha when its capable of low 11's you will want high 10's, it never ends. Push you motor as much as you want just be prepared to pay up for a new one at any time...maybe a few years maybe a few hours...its a lottery.

I thought 16psi was a tad high for a BA bottomend. Mine hits 16 and levels off at about 15. that's what I asked for and that's what I got. I guess they are capable of handling a bit more in the right hands. The blokes that are running 19psi,are you running standard plenum? I suppose it all comes down to the tuner and alot has probably changed in tuning tactics between then and now.
