Worm A much better forum Silver Donating Members 3,808 Member For: 16y 6m 23d Gender: Male Location: Victoria Posted 15/07/10 08:15 PM Share Posted 15/07/10 08:15 PM Still trying to figure out how to keep my speedo correct Worm. 245/30/20 (limited options for tyres) or go for 245/35/20. I have no idea how it all works but with 255/35/20's on the rear, 95kmh on the speedo was 100.Get into it Dale. It'll be cheaper for both of us Obviously 255 is the width of the rear... The profile is called the aspect ratio... It has to do with the width...eg... If you have a 35 profile, the height of the tyre will NOT always be the same... The profile of a tyre is a percentage of the width of the tyre...So... If I had a 225/50 tyre... The sidewall of the tyre only will be 50% of 225... Which is 112.5 or approximate 11.25cm high... Times it by 2 for the top and bottom of your tyre... And Add this to the rim height... But convert the rim height of your tyre to cm (not inches)...This will give you an overall diameter of your wheel... And hence a bigger diameter means a bigger circumference... If your circumference is bigger than standard size wheels it will knock out your speedo...This is because your speedo thinks your wheel is a particular circumference... Each time it spins one full circle it assumes a certain distance is travelled... But if you have a bigger wheel/tyre combo... It still thinks each rotation of your Tyres is THE same distance... Which it's not... Cause the bigger diameter means a bigger circumference and hence your car is traveling further with each rotation than what the speedo thinks it is...If you go 255 on the rear, you need to go 30 profile to keep your speedo close to original...I have 275/30/20 on my rears... Which is a bigger diameter than standard... However speedos on these cars as a rule generally show 3-4km/h (on a falcon) more than 100 when they are actually doing 100... So mine sits perfectly on 100 now when doing 100...As a general rule... The bigger the rim, the lower the profile the tyre... The wider the tyre... the lower the profile again!!! However if the difference in the width is only minimal... ie. Only 245 to 255, then the profile won't change... But if you go heaps wider ie. 235 to 285, you will need to drop another 5 on your profile... (ie. 45 profile down to 40)

Iam as eager to see them as well. It maybe a hard decision dish or not. Iam thinking more than likely no dish. $1490 is cheap with tyres but I suppose they came with Ling Long or some similar tyre. I have 2 x 275 k31s in the shed just need the rims.
