Got my order in for a new fg with an auto box and been wondering if I should try and change it to a manual?

Which is best. Can u still have fun in a auto. How do they compare for burnouts and off line drags etc.

Could really use some fast advice as I may still have time to change it.

Go with the Auto, only reason is the service manager at Thomson Ford was telling me those buying new FG's especially the GT buyers were complaining about the noise in the new box being much like the T56, if it really is, (can't really confirm haven't driven a manual one yet) then you don't want it. I have the 4Spd auto in my ute and I have plenty of fun in that, if only it had the 6spd

Not sure about auto handling a lot more punishent, unless the new 6speed is weaker than T56. I'm yet to see a thread about a broken t56...

Mate if you want a fast straight line car and drive in peak hour traffic go for the auto, if you want fun and don't drive in peak hour a lot go the manual.

Whatsort of driving do you do? I think the manuals keep it more interesting/exciting if u like giving it a bit of curry.

Only thing I dont like is not having a free hand, so whenim driving while on the phone and having a drink and I see a copper I have to drop them all to put my seatbelt on while trying to change gears.

zf. t56 is tough as nails but what about the clutch? tough clutchs are just as expensive as an auto rebuild for a slower et. depends what your doing.

I would say manual just because they are so much fun to drive with the clutch, but saying that I drove a ZF and they are pretty good drive, its really up to you and what you want, both are really good transmissions but its just up to what you wont.

Hey mate , I work For a Ford/Fpv dealership , and like all the other guys have said on here it all comes down to what you want to do , The 6 speed ZF is tuff as nails and is perfect if you want to do a mild tune and go out and toast all those junker hsv's at the local street meet on the weekends :bopp: , but if your looking to go out and be a bit of a tokyo drift king well the manual would be the bext choice for you and all the rattle noises people speak of on these forums is just rollover noise in the gearbox which is a characteristic of the gearbox but Ford are looking into ways to quiet it down. myself personaly im taking my T56 6 speed out and going for a built C4 auto box with a high rpm stall convertor as im more into drag racing and as everyone has said the auto is better suited for that application. though im sure clicking it back a gear with the c4 in my ute will still be quiet a hairy ride haha :roflmbo: .either way your buying a RAD car bro ! Enjoy :finger:
